We were lucky to catch up with Ronald Bennett recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ronald, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back at the decisions you made early in your career, particularly whether to join a firm or start your own, do you feel you made the right choice for that stage of your career?
I started out worlking for General Mortors in their finance department. I left GMAC with the intenin of getting my own dealrship. Becasue of some changes in th eindustry at that time, I ended up in the mortgage industry. For the first few years I was affliated with a company. Because of situations with that company, I ended up starting my own net branch, until to emplogin happen. I went back to working for companys and moved around alot until I ge to where I am today. Having run my own company gave me the knowledge that I have now. If I had to do it all over again, I would have taken the same path.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I have several ways that I stay in touch with past borrwers. One is direct contact. Every Thursday I call about ten of my past borrowers to stayin touch and let them kow I am available for them. The other is by email and send out different letters and emails.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As I indicated previously, a compney I was working for went bankrupt, and I had to make a decision on what I was going to do. I ended up opening my own mortgage company and worked that until the market changed. I had to decide if I was going to stay in the industry or go find someting else to do. My mentor asked a question when I told him I was going to get out…..”OK, what are you going to do?” Thatwas enough for me to continue to work in the mortgage industry.
