Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rona Bachour. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rona, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Definitely sooner. I started this journey on June 20th 2020, when COVID-19 hit. Was constantly stressed out with my full-time job, quarantining with 2 very young kids in an apartment. Started by taking an online course and felt so good. Never thought I had it in me to create such good cookies. If I started earlier, I might by now had my biggest goal which is a store front.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Rona. I work in Healthcare Industry by day. Lebanese and a mother of 2. Moved to Tampa 5 years ago. Started this journey as a hobby by taking monthly decorating classes. Then out of nowhere it became my Business. I offer decorated sugar cookies for any occasion, Baklava Trays, Chocolate Bombs, Puertorrican Almond Cake, S’mores kits and now Decorating Cookie Classes.
My focuse is to always create cookies as if they were for my own kids. Make outstanding cookies that can wow anyone with love, dedication, and passion. To put myself in my clients position, would I like what I’m giving them as a final product? Does it taste good? The presentation that I’m giving. And of course, give them the best customer service that I could give because it’s the experience they get from Rona’s Cookies what counts.
Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
A funny story, we traveled to Puerto Rico, in which I made cookies as appreciation to the airline crew. My son loves airplanes and wanted the best experience as it was his first time in one. We gave a cookie to the Pilot as a thank you, which, by the way, he loved and came all the way to us to ask where I got them. We were talking for a while and mentioned how much my son loves airplanes. He told us to let the crew know he was expecting us. As we were boarding, the crew was already expecting us. My kids were invited to the pilot’s cabin to live the whole experience. The crew got to enjoy my cookies, we took pictures, had a blast talking and laughing. When it was time for plane’s instructions, another crew member gave Rona’s Cookies a shout out through their speaker. That was the best marketing ever with an airplane full at capacity. My kids not only had a great time but I also got the best marketing ever.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Be able to create cookies as if they were for my own kids. Make outstanding cookies that can wow anyone. To put myself in my clients position, would I like what I’m giving them as a final product? Does it taste good? The presentation that I’m giving. And of course give them the best customer service that I could give.
