We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rona Bachour. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rona below.
Rona, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear how you think where to draw the line in terms of asking friends and family to support your business – what’s okay and what’s over the line?
To all Family, Friends, Neighbors and Tampa community over all, your support means a lot. Every Purchase, Share, recommendations and Shout Out helps my small business. By helping this small business you will also help us to continue being a “Proud Sponsor of Deer Park Elementary PTA”
Rona, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Rona, 41 yrs. old. I’m Lebanese (born and raised some of youth years). Was living in Puerto Rico until 3 yrs. ago. I’m married to a Puertorrican lovely man named Roman. I’m a mother of 2 kids. A daughter that turns 10 in November and a son that turns 6 in October. I have a full-time job as an Operations Expert from 8 am to 5 pm in Healthcare Industry and I’m Home Baker under the Florida Cottage Law. All this started with the pandemic (COVID) approximately in April when my daughter asked me why I buy everything for their Birthdays when her best friend’s mom does everything herself. That shocked me because it’s true. I always order their treats for their birthday because of my full-time job. In April of 2020, I saw this online Cookie decorating class which I was interested, since what my daughter told me shocked me, and wanted to learn to do their cookies for their Birthdays and for her to be proud. When I took that class, I loved it, and was my stress reliever from my day job and all the COVID quarantine. Started my business Rona’s Cookies and More by end June of 2020. Continued my monthly decorating classes, reinvented myself by doing Home Made Baklava trays, Baklava Bites, and the big hit of Chocolate Bombs during Christmas.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation within my market was to create cookies as if they were for my own kids. Make outstanding cookies that can wow anyone with love, dedication and passion. To put myself in my clients position, would I like what I’m giving them as a final product? Does it taste good? The presentation that I’m giving. And of course give them the best customer service that I could give.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I first started I had no followers and no Instagram. I’ve been constantlyposting every day and sharing in all the Facebook groups I belong. Started few months ago filming myself decorating, creting videos and reels. These has helped increase followers. Don’t give up, be persistent and consistent. Consistency and accountability is the key.
