Alright, Ron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
I came up with the idea for 2ndclass because of the different experiences I had growing up in Houston. The good and the bad. Being a black skateboarder at that time wasn’t let’s say popular! I been the underdog.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ron. I’m an entrepreneur very passionate about the lifestyle of skateboarding. Around 2016 I decided to invest in myself. 2ndclass skateboarding company was born. The meaning of the company name [2ndclass} is never giving up hope in the face of adversity. So I’m on my path to bring skateboarding to the people who have been forgotten.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
To come up with the capital to fund the business. I had to flip burgers, scan packages, load and unload 18 wheelers. Basically anything that was legal I’ll do it. Blue collar type shit!
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to bring people joy through skateboarding. Keep grinding it out. Never giving up hope. Tuff times are what builds character!
