We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ron Fortier a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ron thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
Becoming a published writer is never easy. After years of sending getting rejection slips, I received a check for $35 for an 8 pg horror script that would be illustrated and published in a comic horror anthology. Upon cashing the check, I donated all if to a local orphanage admitting my talent was a gift from God and its first fruits belonged to him.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’ve been writing comics, sci-fi and pulp novels for the past 50 years. Am best known for my Green Hornet series at Now Comics in the early 90s. Also wrote Terminator comics for them based on the movie franchise. Today I the Managing Editor of Airship 27 Production. We publish new pulp novels and anthologies featuring both classic heroes from the 30s and 40s and newer ones created by our writers. To date we have over 200 titles available at Amazon.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Obviously the arts must be supported especially in schools, from the early grades all the way through high school. Budding writers and artists fully understand, even from an early age, that their abilities need constant encouragement. Sadly society doesn’t look at a painting on short story as something vital, and so the premier focus is always on what makes us rich and powerful. Wheras the arts feed the soul…and without them, we’d only be a country of robots in human skin.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Talent, of any kind, is a gift from God. Without preaching, I believe my love of storytelling is my gift and that I have an obligation to share it with the world. So I am constantly aware that whatever will eventually have some influence on other men and women. I want those influences to be positive, to entertain, enlighten and maybe inspire my readers. To lift them in using their talents in a similar way.
