We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Romik Hacobian. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Romik below.
Hi Romik, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
At Media City Design, we pride ourselves on doing things differently from the standard industry approach. While many design and marketing firms focus solely on delivering projects within a transactional framework, we aim to build meaningful, long-term relationships with our clients and community.
One way we stand out is through our dedication to personalized service. We take the time to deeply understand our clients’ unique goals and challenges, whether they’re small businesses, non-profits, or political campaigns. For example, during the rebranding of the Burbank Chamber of Commerce, we incorporated feedback from various stakeholders to ensure the brand authentically reflected the community’s spirit.
Another key differentiator is our commitment to community impact. Beyond traditional services, we offer pro bono consultations to local initiatives and collaborate on campaigns like “Drive Right, Save Lives,” a driver safety program in Burbank. These efforts not only demonstrate our dedication to our craft but also to making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
Finally, we diverge from the industry norm by blending creativity with cutting-edge tools, such as integrating AI in website design, to produce innovative, modern, and user-friendly solutions while keeping services accessible to small businesses.
This approach has earned us multiple awards, but more importantly, it’s created a ripple effect of trust and collaboration within our community. It’s proof that being different isn’t just about innovation—it’s about caring enough to make an impact.

Romik, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Media City Design is more than just a creative agency—we are a cornerstone for small businesses, non-profits, and community organizations in Burbank and beyond. Founded with a deep passion for design and storytelling, our company specializes in branding, website design, marketing strategies, and merchandise development, tailoring each project to reflect the unique identity and goals of our clients.
What sets us apart is our dedication to personalized service and community impact. For example, we’ve rebranded organizations like the Burbank Chamber of Commerce to reflect their evolving missions and have supported campaigns such as “Drive Right, Save Lives,” which addresses driver safety in the community. We also provide pro bono services to causes we believe in, ensuring that impactful initiatives get the support they deserve.
Our solutions combine creativity with modern tools, including AI, to create cutting-edge designs that are both visually stunning and functional. Whether it’s developing a website for a political campaign or crafting merchandise for local businesses, we prioritize collaboration, innovation, and quality.
At Media City Design, we are most proud of the relationships we’ve built and the trust our clients place in us. Our approach isn’t about one-size-fits-all solutions—it’s about creating meaningful connections and delivering results that resonate. We want potential clients to know that when they work with us, they are not just hiring a designer; they are gaining a partner who is as invested in their success as they are.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Resilience has been a defining part of my journey, both personally and professionally. One of the most significant moments that tested my resilience was navigating the early days of building Media City Design. Coming from a refugee background, where my family fled war and uncertainty, I learned the value of persistence and adaptability.
When I first started my business, resources were limited, and competition in the design industry was fierce. I remember a particularly challenging period when I had to manage tight budgets while delivering quality work for clients who entrusted me with their visions. There were moments of doubt, but I leaned into my passion for design and my belief in the impact of storytelling through visuals. One project at a time, I built a reputation for delivering not just designs but solutions that resonated deeply with clients and communities. Today, Media City Design stands as a testament to that resilience and determination to create something meaningful out of every challenge.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was that success is defined by traditional metrics like revenue or the size of your client portfolio. Early in my career, I thought the only way to measure growth was through financial achievements. However, over time, I realized that true success is about impact—how my work influences the lives of clients, contributes to the community, and aligns with my values.
One moment that shifted my perspective was a project with a local non-profit. Initially, it didn’t seem like a “big” opportunity, but as I worked on the campaign, I saw how my efforts directly affected the organization’s ability to reach and help people in need. This reinforced the importance of aligning my work with causes I care about and creating a positive legacy. By unlearning the conventional idea of success, I’ve been able to embrace opportunities that bring fulfillment and align with my passion for community-building.
