Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Romeo Rios. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Romeo, thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
If it wasn’t for me taking a risk I would not be where I am today. Sometimes it can be frightening and nerve-racking,
but you go out there and give it your all.
My dance teacher Rebecca at Tippy Toe Dance Studio told us that in life
“you’re going to be nervous about everything. whether that’s going to a job interview or dancing your heart out on stage”
Ever since i’ve heard those words i’ve tried my best to live by them. Taking risks and giving it my all.
Take those risks and live your fullest most authentic life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello, Demons and Ghouls! My name is Romeo Rios, I am 22 years young and a Scorpio sun. I attend a dance studio named Tippy Toe Dance Studio and I study the different styles of dance. (ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, etc.) I started a year ago and will be going onto my 2nd, I have improved so much and will continue to with hard work and dedication. I dance Mondays 5 pm-9 pm & Wednesdays 6 pm-9 pm even after a 5-8 hr shift of being on my feet all day.
no matter how exhausted and tired I am, I will always be grateful to have a steady job and also follow my dreams with dance and being able to improve not only my skills but also my way of being and the way I view myself.
Fresh off of Portlands Fashion Week 2023′ I have been connecting with other models, photographers/videographers, designers, and choreographers. Creating new ideas of doing what we love but also having a positive impact on the world, bringing awareness to what has been hidden behind closed doors.
Also showing love and embracing everyone’s culture. I do that by volunteering and helping out small businesses with promotional ideas, creating flyers, and passing them out by hand.
I am the heir to two Latinx businesses ‘Ghetto Made Records’ a record label and 211 Customshop which we bring out artists to perform in venues that we set up, We also promote and create amazing designs/logos for other businesses
which we just finished coming up with some of my own for my clothing line ‘Rixxx Revenge’ something I thought of in my pre-teen years.
I want to bring my Latinx culture, horror, and embracing your inner beauty to my line Rixxx Revenge.
Being around the amazing people who are pouring with creativity awakened me and showed me I can do it as long as I put my mind to it.
Rixxx Revenge is about embracing the power of your highest most authentic self and course with a touch of horror. I love to create anything that has a horror twist to it.
It’s a process but the tortoise ended up winning anyway.
All I’ve ever wanted was to bring some joy to the world. Show people that we don’t have to be tied down by our past. We can grow and evolve into amazing beings. We are all human and it’s okay to make mistakes. I learn from mine every day but that’s what pushes me to strive and be the best that I can be in everything that I do.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I believe the most rewarding aspect of being a creative artist is seeing the art I made and hearing how it affected people. It’s kind of unbelievable to think my dancing skills can make people feel a way. I just dance because it moves my soul. It gives me a reason to thrive and feel alive. I get to express myself in different ways I never thought about. I always loved to act and be on stage, not just dancing but performing. Giving it my all and putting my entire heart into it. It makes me feel this sense of euphoria that I can only feel when I have the thrill of the rush of being on stage.
I love hearing people admire my work because I genuinely put so much hard work and effort into what I do and that’s the best reward I could ever ask for.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal from day one has also been to be a voice for the ones who couldn’t voice for themselves. When I was younger I spent so much time staying silent and not standing up for myself. It took me a long time to learn how and I still am if I’m being honest. It’s tough to teach yourself how to set boundaries and stick up for yourself without feeling guilty.
I push myself to prove to myself that I can do all that I ever wanted to do and enjoy life at each moment.
My message to the people is that you have no reason to feel guilty for expressing your feelings. They are valid and important. you are valid and important and in the world during times like this, we are all that we have. Each other. People are so divided now and think it’s weird to be friendly or casual to one another. We are all one of the same
