We recently connected with Roland Turner and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Roland thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I truly knew I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally was at 7 years old. I had always been drawn to music—from playing instruments to experimenting with beat-making software in my bedroom—but it wasn’t until I produced my first full track that everything shifted.
I remember staying up all night working on it. There was something about shaping raw sounds into a cohesive piece that lit a fire in me. When I played it back, imperfect as it was, I felt something I hadn’t felt before—a sense of purpose, of clarity. It was more than a hobby; it felt like a calling.
What really solidified my decision was the reaction I got when I shared that track with a few close friends. They connected with it emotionally, and one of them even said, “You are something special.” That moment made me realize that music has the power to move people, and I wanted to be part of that impact.
From there, I started investing more time into learning the craft—watching tutorials, collaborating with local artists, and gradually building a sound I could call my own. That turning point was less about chasing fame or success, and more about honoring a passion that refused to be ignored.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a New Orleans-based bounce music producer(Alright Slash) passionate about preserving and pushing the culture forward. I got my start producing local tracks for neighborhood artists, drawn to the raw energy and community vibe that defines bounce. I create custom beats, full production services, and engineer tracks that bring that signature NOLA sound to life.
What sets me apart is my deep respect for the roots of bounce, combined with a modern approach that connects with today’s audience. I help artists craft authentic, high-energy tracks that resonate in clubs, streets, and online. I’m most proud of staying true to the sound while helping it evolve and reach new ears.
At the core, my brand (Alright Slash) is about culture, community, and creativity. Whether you’re an artist, DJ, or brand looking for that undeniable bounce energy, I’m here to deliver.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
From my perspective as a music producer, one of the most important ways society can support artists and creatives is by investing in access—access to education, resources, platforms, and fair compensation. Many talented individuals don’t reach their full potential simply because they lack the tools or support to grow.
We need more funding for arts programs in schools, affordable studio spaces, grants for independent creatives, and initiatives that protect artists’ rights in the digital world. Supporting local talent through community events, festivals, and media coverage also helps create a thriving ecosystem.
Most importantly, we need to shift the mindset around creative work—recognizing it not as a luxury, but as a vital part of culture, economy, and community well-being. When we value the arts, we empower voices, preserve culture, and fuel innovation.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission as a New Orleans bounce music producer is to become the go-to person for authentic, high-quality bounce production—to give everyone that Alright Slash flavor most would say, artists, DJs, and brands can trust to deliver that raw, energetic sound that represents the culture of our city. I’m dedicated to preserving the roots of bounce while pushing its creative boundaries, making it relevant for new generations and broader audiences.
My goal is to not only represent New Orleans on a global stage but also to collaborate with major artists, secure placements in film, TV, and commercials, and expand into international markets where the sound of bounce is just starting to catch on. I also aim to earn recognition through awards and industry platforms, while continuing to uplift local talent and create opportunities within my community.
At the end of the day, I want people to hear my work and instantly know—that’s my sound. That’s bounce. That’s New Orleans.
