We were lucky to catch up with Rogike Britton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rogike thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
In 2010, a friend of mine had a fragrance oil business of many years in St. Louis. I reached out to him and expressed my interest in fragrance body oils and the rest is history. No one but the favor of GOD opened that door for me. God told me that I will be able to use this business to become debt free. I started Britton Oils & Aromas in 2010. At that time I was only selling body oils, air fresheners & scented crystal potpourri. When I first started it was more of a hustle and no expectations of it growing as it has. That worked for a few years but I was still thinking inside the box. You get tired of hearing “What can you do for me?”, “How much can I get this for?” or “Can I get it for this amount because this is all I’ve got?”.
I wanted to take Britton Oils & Aromas to the next level but I didn’t know how. In 2021, I broke my ankle in 3 places. While being restricted from the things that I was use to doing, God gave me ideas of how to brand Britton Oils & Aromas. When I became able to walk again, it was if I had no breaks just gas. We changed the logo, the presentation of the products, added more products and came up with a marketing plan.
Today, you have Britton Oils & Aromas w/the slogan “WE DON’T STEP ON IT, WE STAND ON IT”. In other words, whatever products we sell we are going to give you the best quality! It’s not our quality that speaks for our products but our customers that speaks for our quality.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Rogike Britton but everyone calls me “Gak”. I was born and raised in Little Rock, Arkansas. I’m am the CEO of Britton Oils & Aromas. Britton Oils & Aromas is a christian family based business that started in 2o10.
There are two main things that set Britton Oils & Aromas apart from others. First, would be our customer service. If you can’t communicate with your customers, they could care less about what you have to offer. Whether a customer purchases 1 item or 10 items. They are all treated the same. Second, would be the quality of our products. Communication & quality goes hand and hand. Not only do we communicate with our customers but we inform them of WHY our quality is so great. Customers who are not knowledgeable of your products want to be informed.
As a father, I am most proud to be able to work side by side with my daughter that’s 12. It allows us to have that father daughter bonding time. By working with the business she’s being taught skills of communication, being responsible, accounting & how to run a business.
Britton Oils & Aromas is more than a business, we are a brand! We are a brand that stands behind every product that we carry. We work to resolve any issues that come about in a professional manner.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
What has helped to build the reputation of Britton Oils & Aromas has been CONSISTENCY! Whenever you want change there has to be consistency. I was wanting to level up from Britton Oils & Aromas being a hustle to a brand. This meant that we now have to market our customer based. I customers and social media spies to see us putting in the work. When you hear the name Britton Oils & Aromas. Understand that nothing was given, everything earned!
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source for new clients has been and always will be….word of mouth. When you have a great product and your customers are satisfied, they will talk. Flyers and business cards can only go so far. Take advantage of the social media outlets.
