Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rogerio Peixoto. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rogerio, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
Yes! Today I dedicate myself 100% to art, but it wasn’t always like this: Besides studying art, nowadays, I mainly study the art market and this certainly gives me more visibility, sales, quality and homogenization in the production of my pieces. An artist needs professional maturation to go to the next level and that only takes time, I don’t believe the process would have been faster if I had known this before.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born an artist, but I only realized that I could really make a living from art, after I became a professional, in 2008, from then on I started to deeply study materials, techniques, styles, the art market, etc… long and arduous, when I made the choice to work to be in the biggest books, galleries and art shows on the planet. Today I am convinced that all my effort was worth it.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Absolutely: In 2018 I had some problems with my old Art brokers. Because I didn’t speak English at this time, I was completely dependent on him. We parted ways and I had no choice but to work on construction to pay my bills while I painted my pieces overnight. I worked for a few months with Tile on remodeling bathrooms and kitchens. It wasn’t easy, my whole body hurt a lot and even so I managed to produce my art. The architect who was responsible for my work ( Kaizer Talib ) discovered that I was a visual artist and then asked me why I never told him anything. He immediately asked to see photos of my art pieces. The architect was blown away by the quality of my art and decided to help me, producing a beautiful art show for 80 guests in his beautiful mansion in For Lauderdale-FL-USA. All the guests were people of the highest cultural level: (Architects, engineers, politicians, gallery owners and journalists) From then on my life changed, I signed big contracts and participated in amazing art fairs. My resilience certainly made me resist the pain, move on and achieve my goal, even though I was working in a completely different place than I had ever done!
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
To be honest, so far I haven’t been able to understand 100% about NFT’s, even though I have one in production, Lol. Digital art has been part of my career for some time, but only to produce sketches made in Photoshop. I use these sketches to create my artwork on linen and lessen the chance of anything going wrong.
