We recently connected with Rodrigo Lima and have shared our conversation below.
Rodrigo, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
It didn’t start from one day to the other, the whole thing sort of developed itself. I have been drawing and painting ever since I was a child in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I grew up in the famous Copacabana and was very influenced by Bossa Nova music and Brazilian beach culture. I started taking night classes at the School of Fine Arts when I was still in high school and went on to study design in college. I would show my paintings and at the same time started designing logos for my friends’ bands and working as a graphic designer for a Fashion School. I came to LA in the late 90’s and have been working on my paintings, drawings, and sculptures since. Making a living in art can be a little tough sometimes, so I also built a career in graphic design and commercial illustration.
Rodrigo, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me is referrals from other clients. I believe in doing the best job I can, no matter what the project is. Most of my clients find me through word of mouth.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is that you are always coming up with new solutions. For your own art, and for your client’s projects when you are working commerially. You solve problems everyday and you help your clients businesses grow, that’s where the reward comes from.
