We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rodrianna Alsip. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rodrianna below.
Alright, Rodrianna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the backstory of how you established your own practice.
I started Pulse Barre + Fitness after the death of my father. That really drove me to put the pedal to the floor and make my dreams come true. I started by envisioning how I wanted my studio to be and what type of business owner I wanted to be. I wanted to make sure I stood out in the community and provided a different environment for others to work out.
Once I knew exactly how I wanted the business to be, it took me a few months to find the perfect spot in the community. It was difficult to find a location since Uniontown isn’t that big of a city and there are limited retail spaces available.
If I had to do something different, I would have maybe dropped the name Barre out of the business name. Barre was my first baby, but as the business has grown, and as I have grown as a fitness instructor, I have gained love for other fitness modalities.
My advice for young professionals is to know what you want and listen to your gut. You are always going to have people questioning you and not understanding you and what you are doing. At the end of the day, it is about what makes you happy and it’s about achieving your goals.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Rodrianna. I am the owner of Pulse Barre + Fitness in Uniontown, Ohio. We are a multi-modality fitness studio that specializes in all things wellness. We have strength training, barre, yoga, pilates, and cycling. We are a one-stop shop for your fitness routine.
We give clients a personalized experience that is not like going to a big box gym. You will get a small class environment with classes structured for your needs.
I am most proud of seeing the great community that we have created. We have such a positive group of people who show up every day looking to be challenged.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to learn is to not take anything personally. Everyone has their thing and just because they don’t want your service doesn’t have anything to do with you personally. And if for some reason it is personal, I still don’t take it that way, because I know I am a good person, and I know my purpose and Pulse’s purpose. I/We are not always going to be everyone’s cup of tea,
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Continuing to learn and grow in your field. I am constantly looking for ways to learn more so I can ensure I am giving clients scientifically designed classes.
