We were lucky to catch up with Roderick Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Roderick, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My first Role as a co lead I played a veteran dealing with PTSD. This role may have been the hardest and most fulfilling role I have done, simply because I am a veteran who deals with PTSD. The fulfilling part is that I believe this film will bring more awareness to to the issue of veterans dealing with this trying to readjust to society.
Roderick, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Acting for me is something I feel that I was meant. From the little bit of time I spent in California in the early 2000s to now I feel that I was always put in a position to act from promos to stage plays, even a crime stoppers re enactment. But it wasn’t until moving back to Texas that I got signed to Enorama Talent Agency with Sabrina Trevino and Marcus Davila and now I feel like I really have some momentum behind me as well as a great team (lionsact Productions) with whom i will working with on their new film “Vaqueros of Hawaii”.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
I think it’s easy to support artists and creative in this day and age just simply because of the technology at hand. We are in time that you can show support by the click of a button.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
As a veteran dealing with mental health issues it’s often times been rough trying to re- adjust, but one thing I have found is confidence in myself that I really can do anything that I put my mind to from beginning my MMA / Muay Thai training to, writing music and even acting in movies. Im learning to enjoy the journey and take the good with the bad
