We recently connected with Rodd Evans and have shared our conversation below.
Rodd, appreciate you joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
I took a risk on writing and producing a stage play in college. That lead to film opportunities, and an opportunity to monetize and share my work. I was scared because I wasn’t a theater major but I was obsessed with acting.
I started my event planning career throwing parties, concerts and comedy shows.
So one day I decided to promote a stage play to my audience. It was the first time that I promoted something like that. It sold out and the audience wanted more.
Years later, those experiences helped me land an acting agent in Atlanta (Aligned Stars). God is good. My event planning resume helped me connect and network with other professionals in the entertainment industry as well.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I went from throwing parties, concerts and comedy shows to designing and producing corporate events, which lead to more funding opportunities and additional resources.
I now work as a full time event planner for both private and public events while perfecting my craft in acting, writing and producing.
God is Good!
I currently own and operate Bigger Picture Association LLC. A company that produces special events, while also producing content.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I needed experience in the entertainment industry to learn more about business. So I went and volunteered wherever I could in detroit and chicago. I ended up interning for Atlantic records, and also interning for actress Drew Sidora.
There was resilience here because there were no opportunities for the entertainment industry in Kalamazoo while I attended Western Michigan University. So I realized I had to go travel, work for free and make a name for myself.
My experience in event planning opened doors to find additional resources and it allowed me to expand my market.
I got to see things up close in the entertainment industry that also built my confidence up as an actor and writer.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn my habit of overthinking. There was a lot of negative feedback at times around me when I wanted to try unconventional business endeavors, but that motivated me to trust my gut and at least try.
I came up with the phrase: “What’s the BEST that can happen” because people always mentioned the worst possibilities.
Years later, I’ve built up a foundation that can take me anywhere with my business and skillset.
