We were lucky to catch up with Rod Burgos recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rod thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Yes, there is something that we do differently from the industry standard and it’s what we’re most proud of. We build relationships with our clients first, which builds trust, and only from that place do we begin working together. We feel, being a creative studio, that is the best way for us to understand and develop the clients dream. Most of the time studios lead with what services they have to offer, but we work the other way around. Because we first built the relationship with the client, we lean into who we can be for them, and then we work together to see what services are best for them and adjust accordingly for the project. Something important in our culture is generosity, this helps us not to feel limited when creating. Our team goes above and beyond of what we can do, so we know our clients will come back not wanting more, but wanting us, our team, our culture, how we work. It’s all about the experience.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Everything started few years ago, I was studying in Sydney, Australia and realized during that time that I wanted to do more with my life by helping others live out their potential. I realized that I wanted to help others understand and accomplish their dreams. At the time I didn’t have anything practically figured out I just knew that something was beginning. I had been drumming since I was a little boy, always surrounded by music. One day an opportunity presented itself to me to create drums parts for a record, and this opened new possibilities in my mind. I had never worked on something like this, and my love for music continued to grow fro there. I felt curious about what it takes for one person or a team to create a song from scratch. Once I figured it out it was love at first sight. I found it so fascinating and I wanted to do more. That curiosity opened an opportunity to know more about the music business industry, and learning about that industry is what started our dream as a company to finding creatives globally who needed a person to believe in their potential and help them along the way to achieving that dream. This is what set us on the path of what we are doing today, running a creative studio that helps you bring dream to life. Today that looks like: coaching, developing brands, creating websites, producing music, managing, photography, video, graphic design and more.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
2023 has not been an easy one. We have had a lot of great opportunities present themselves and it’s also broke records for the amount of prospect clients that have sought us out, and even still there have been many moments this year that it has felt like nothing is working. We’ve even had moments as a team wondering, should we just quit? I can’t tell you how. many times that crossed my mind this year. I was exhausted. However, this year has really helped bring me back to WHY we do what we do. I am a christian, so I pray to God, and one of the days that I was really frustrated this year I told my wife that I was going to close the company. Well that same week we closed a client, more than a client it was someone who explained the purpose behind their dream and it was something that we really aligned on and it struck passion in me again to push forward. It reminded me in the power of patience and never giving up. I am certain we have all felt this way before. The secret is just to show up. To keep going. You might not be able to see what is coming but that is what faith is. To believe in something that we can’t see yet. Keep showing up. That’s what I will keep telling myself in the moments before the opportunity comes.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The thing that has greatly helped us build our reputation in our market is consistency. Staying truthful to what we say we are going to do all the way to the end. That one quality has brought us almost every client we have had so far. Of course life happens, timelines can change, however I believe it is beautiful when you come across someone who does what they said they will do. Finding that quality in a person in the creative industry can be difficult. For more that 6 years we as a company have continued to fight to see our dreams come true. You’re never able to escape handwork or use short cuts for success for the long run. Great things take time. Can you be the last person standing believing that? Are we giving everything we got? This world needs more people with convictions, doing hard yards till they can harvest what they’ve built.
