Hi Rochonda, thanks for joining us today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.

When I was a kid, my step-father was a business man and I am grateful that he instilled many entrepreneurial skills in me. He would often times bring home random things for me to sell to our neighbors.

During the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles era (the one in the 80’s) he brought home ninja turtle sunglasses for me to sell. They sold for $3 each and I got to keep $1 for every pair I sold. I went door to door displaying a cardboard box lid filled with individually wrapped sunglasses in different neon colors each with a ninja turtle on the side.

Another time he brought home keychains for me to sell. And then another time I sold those slap wrist bracelets. Each time making a small profit of my own.

When he didn’t have merchandise for me to hustle I began selling my personal Lisa Frank sticker collection. I liked the feeling of having my own money so that when the Ice Cream Man came around I didn’t have to ask for money and could use my own earnings.

It was freedom. And I loved it.

While my step-dad wasn’t the greatest dad, he was a good teacher in ways that I’m still appreciating as an adult business owner.

Rochonda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Hey, there. I’m Rochonda, the founder and CEO of Highest Potential Woman, a coaching company specializing in conscious studies and personal development programs designed for multisensory women. I’m also the creator behind the Magnetic Geodes by Rochonda brand and art mentorship programs.

I’ve been a “truth seeker” all of my life. As a child, when I imagined what I’d do one day for a career, I specifically recall laying in bed staring at the ceiling and knowing in my heart that I would help people, while a vision of the mysterious Universe and billions of stars in the galaxy filled my mind.

At the time, I had no idea what that would look like, but I do now, as I’ve dedicated my life to helping women overcome defeating habits of self-sabotage, get to the root of what holds them back, and achieve success in their careers, businesses, relationships and finances.

I’m passionate about discovering, using, and sharing the BEST transformation tools for personal growth. Some of my recent favorite tools are practicing Emotional Intelligence, taking radical responsibility, and having clearing conversations. I am also a student of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation and integrate the science and breathwork tools from this practice with all of my clients and students.

My current focus is on creating authentic and conscious relationships. Whether that’s cultivating conscious feminine friendships or calling in spiritual partnerships, I find myself challenged personally (in a good way) and excited to share this work with others as I have made serious breakthroughs in my own life and in the lives of my students/clients.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

There have been several times that I wanted to give up and seek employment. But there’s this voice inside me that says “keep going. keep pushing through” and listening to that voice hasn’t always been easy.

One thing that I’ve had to unlearn on my entrepreneurial journey is that I am always being Divinely guided even when it doesn’t feel like it. As a business owner, there are many challenges that come up, and recognizing these challenges are FOR ME and guiding me to something that I want and have been calling in has been one of the most challenging things to overcome.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?

I was working in a corporate leadership role for an employee benefits firm for many years. I was really good at my job in Account Management and loved my bosses, but I didn’t feel deeply fulfilled – there was something missing. On a journey of soul searching I stumbled across the work of Cheryl Richardson, an esteemed Life Coach and best-selling author. I felt so inspired after seeing her on stage that I knew I had to follow the path of becoming a Life Coach myself. I could feel it in every cell of my body. That was in 2012. I got certified, started my own coaching practice, built a website and started my coaching side-hustle.

I was planning to leave corporate to go all in on my business when the company I worked for offered me a Leadership Coaching opportunity. I saw this as a great opportunity that supported my coaching path so I did that for a 3-year period. by 2021 I was ready to go on my own. I had paid off all debt, saved money, paid off my car and then took the plunge.

It’s 2023 now and I’ve completed my first book, True Friends, A Revolutionary Approach to Cultivating Conscious Feminine Friendships. And I’m launching my signature program: Relationships 360 which is a 1-year transformational program designed to help multisensory women elevate their relationships with theirselves as well as all relationships in their life.
