We recently connected with Rochelle Gomes and have shared our conversation below.
Rochelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I can’t pinpoint an exact moment when my passion for singing began; it has been a part of me since early childhood. As far back as I can remember, I was always immersed in music—singing in the shower, belting out tunes during karaoke sessions in my room. I vividly recall getting my family involved, inviting them to create percussion by clapping or making other sounds to accompany my singing.
At school, children would gather around me, eager to hear me sing. Sometimes, I would even put on little concerts during recess, with younger kids as my background dancers, reveling in the joy of performance.
Deep down, I always knew I was meant to sing, but it wasn’t until later in life that I began to pursue this calling. Like many children growing up in a challenging environment, I faced anxiety, insecurities, and fears that often overwhelmed me. Without the support of my closest relatives, I grew to believe that the world didn’t want me to be a singer—that I didn’t deserve it and wasn’t good enough.
However, despite the years of doubt, the fire and desire to sing remained alive within me, urging me to recognize that this is my true purpose. I realized that sharing my music is how I can contribute to the world, and it would be selfish of me to withhold this gift.
Now, I am dedicated to honing my vocals, nurturing my creativity, and embracing who I am. I am committed to creating music that resonates with me and, ultimately, with the world.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, and moved to Marbella, Spain, when I was just five years old. I am fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, and I have also picked up some Swedish, thanks to my husband, who is from Sweden.
At 17, I relocated to England, where I completed high school in Bath before pursuing my university studies in London. It was in Bath that I met my husband, and together we have two wonderful children, both born in London. After living in England, we spent a year and a half in Geneva, Switzerland, and have called Houston, Texas, our home since 2014.
Singing has been a passion of mine since childhood; it was the one thing I could do effortlessly. After years of nurturing this passion, I am finally doing what I love. A significant turning point for me was when I began taking singing lessons with the incredible Tom McKenney. Under his guidance, my singing has become stronger, more controlled, and powerful. He also encouraged me to perform live in front of large audiences, which helped me grow tremendously as an artist. Through these experiences, I met other musicians and delved into songwriting.
Currently, I am still exploring my artistry, researching, and getting to know myself as a musician. I have a deep appreciation for music from around the world, having been influenced by a diverse range of genres such as pop, classical, flamenco, and indie. I am particularly drawn to powerful voices that evoke strong emotions, such as those of Sarah Brightman, Celine Dion, Adele, and Loreen, who serve as my biggest inspirations as a soprano.
I aspire to create music that evokes feelings of empowerment and triumph, allowing listeners to escape their worries and find peace. This is the emotional experience I aim to deliver through my songs. What sets me apart as a singer is my ability to perform in multiple languages and my extensive vocal range.
It feels surreal to say that I am on the brink of releasing my own music—a dream I have held for so long. I have my first song, co-written with another songwriter, which is not yet released but has been performed live with positive feedback. Titled “Nothing Lasts Forever,” I can’t wait for the world to hear the recorded version.
Additionally, I have another special song that came to me during meditation. It is currently in the works, and I plan to submit it to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Performing at this prestigious competition is one of my dreams, and if I can make it happen, I believe my life will feel complete.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I am embracing the process of letting go of my fears and insecurities, allowing my soul to be free. This journey enables me to express my true self through creativity and share beautiful music with the world.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to realize my childhood dream of becoming a singer by creating amazing music that resonates with both me and my audience. I aspire to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, where I can share my passion with the world.
