Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robyn Brecker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Robyn, appreciate you joining us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
From the time I was a teenager, my dream was to work for Oprah Winfrey. I would have very real dreams of older me sitting in Oprah’s office discussing shows, projects, you name it. At that time, there was no such thing as the Internet which led me to study Radio/TV/Film in college. I applied to work for Oprah at Harpo Studios in Chicago when I was graduating, however there weren’t any positions open…I knew the competition was steep!
I ended up moving to New York City and worked for Nickelodeon in several capacities. One such position was to help launch their first on-air/online television network called Noggin. The Internet was this “new” thing…and Noggin was doing something that hadn’t been done before by creating content that seamlessly worked on television and an online presence. Not only did I get to work in famed editing and production houses with veterans in their fields, I had the opportunity to start to learn how to produce content for the Web.
I never gave up my dream for working for Oprah and would check regularly to see if there were any positions open. About a year or so after I was living in New York, Oprah was looking for a small team to launch Oprah.com that had both television and digital experience. There weren’t many people at that time that fit the qualifications, and after several interviews I had the job!
As I stepped foot into Harpo Studios in the beginning of 2000 — I knew that my life was truly about to change…and yet I could have never really imagine the almost 20-year adventure that was about to begin.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am steeped in the world of spiritual wellness and digital media, blending my extensive background in television and digital content creation with my passion for holistic health. I started my career in the entertainment industry, where I spent over two decades at The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) and Harpo Studios, producing transformative content that focused on personal growth, healing, and empowerment. My work at these media giants fueled my passion for storytelling and connecting audiences to content that could change lives.
After years of producing content that touched on wellness and spirituality, I embarked on my own profound spiritual journey, which led to the founding of Seeking Center, as well as becoming a Spiritual Intuitive myself. Seeking Center is a platform dedicated to guiding individuals on their path to physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The Seeking Center Network expands on that mission, offering a wide array of spiritual tools, expert interviews, programming and transformative experiences. My team and I curate content and experts that help people discover their true selves, navigate life’s challenges, and thrive in a holistic way.
What I believe sets me apart is my ability to merge the worlds of mainstream media and deep spiritual work. I am proud to use my skills as a content creator to bring spiritual practices, energy work, and healing modalities to a wider audience. Seeking Center offers a range of programming, products and services, from podcast episodes featuring top wellness and spiritual practitioners, to curated experiences, workshops, and tools that help people connect with their inner selves and navigate life’s challenges. Seeking Center is expanding to include the best podcast series and YouTube channels in the wellness and spiritual space. In addition, in the coming months we’ll be incorporating technology that allows Seekers to create and be supported on their unique and meaningful journey.
I also am grounded in authenticity and accessibility. I want as many people to see the magic and possibility in every day. I help to create content that breaks down complex spiritual concepts into digestible, actionable insights, allowing anyone—whether someone is new to spirituality or well-versed—to explore and benefit from holistic healing.
I feel my work addresses the growing need for guidance in the chaotic, fast-paced modern world. Many people feel disconnected from themselves, stressed, or uncertain about their life’s purpose. Through Seeking Center, I offers pathways to mental clarity, emotional healing, and spiritual growth. My work helps individuals uncover their own inner power, find balance, and navigate both personal and global challenges with a more grounded, peaceful approach.
I am incredibly proud of the community I have built through Seeking Center. I am passionate about the relationships I have fostered with spiritual trailblazers, healers, and wellness experts, and I love being able to connect our audience with these life-changing resources. I take great pride in knowing that Seeking Center has become a trusted source for people seeking genuine transformation.
I want people to know that Seeking Center is not just a brand—it’s a supportive space for anyone ready to explore their spirituality, embrace wellness, and grow. Whether through the Seeking Center Podcast, our curated experiences or the upcoming expanded network, I am dedicated to helping people lead lives that are more aligned with their true selves. My mission is to to make spiritual growth accessible and authentic for everyone.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
Oh, I love this story!! We first met while working on a project for Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). I had been working with Oprah for 17 years at the time, working closely on projects that aligned with Oprah’s vision of personal growth and transformative content. Karen, at the time, was an established award-winning producer with extensive experience in network television, and was working at Discovery Networks.
Karen was heading up the project on the Discovery Networks side and I was heading up the project for the Oprah side. The project itself was centered around life-changing content and practices. I was at a time in my life where I was ready to make a change career-wise…like there was something “else” I was supposed to be doing, but I didn’t know what. Through a series of spiritual synchronicities I had readings with a medium, psychic, astrologer, shaman and another medium. And they all basically told me the same thing — and none of them knew each other and only one knew me prior. I then began to do deep soul work and tapping into my own intuitive abilities — and I had a plan…I had clarity on what I do next if this project didn’t go forward. I wanted to give others the same type of clarity and healing that I had just experienced. I wanted to inspire them with both a show and then an actual resource of trusted practitioners — as well as a way to guide them to find these answers.
When the project didn’t go forward, Karen and I ended up talking on a more personal level and I told her my plan. She happened to have her own meaningful journey to Discovery and had a long-standing vision to create a network focused on wellness and spirituality. I was floored! She sent me the deck that outlined the network. Not only did I love it, but when I went to save it on my computer the name of the file was my dad’s birthday. My dad passed away when I was 12 and he is one of my key spiritual guides in this lifetime. His birthday is one of the most important numbers in my life. I knew I was supposed to be working with Karen. And we have from that day forward!
Together, we’ve built Seeking Center into a trusted space for those seeking personal growth, spiritual guidance, and holistic wellness.
Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think following your feeling is the important way to succeed in almost any field. We all have intuition – an awareness, a knowing…it’s the subtle whisper and can also be a FEELING. Trust it. Whether it has to do with a potential partner, client, investor, employee, decision…TRUST YOUR GUT. It will never steer you wrong. To me, it is the invisible and direct guidance from the Universe and the highest version of ourselves.
