We recently connected with Robin Shavon and have shared our conversation below.
Robin, appreciate you joining us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
When I took my first lash extensions class, my friend texted me and asked me if I wanted to work in her shop. I said yes & was super excited but nervous at the same time. Once I got my timing down I started to get actual clients. Working in her shop we would get clients from Groupon or I would post on social media and get them that way. Most of my first clients came from Groupon at the time while working in her shop. I was super excited to be working on actual paying customers and they would actually rebook with me which made me feel like I was doing a good job. Fast forward to now one of my clients who came to me while working in the shop is still my client till this day.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Robin I am a Lash Artist/Educator, a Licensed Advanced Esthetician & a mentor. I got in the beauty industry by taking a lash extension class that my friend was offering. I have been in business for 2 years now & absolutely love what I do. I am a lash artist who also offers lash extension classes. I will soon be coming out with my own lash brand for my fellow lash techs. What set me apart from others… I have amazing customer service skills, I focus on my brand & never compare my work to others, I make sure I provide a top tier service for my clients & just overall make sure they leave out with a smile on their face. I am most proud of my progression, it feels like yesterday when I first start lashing and trying to get clients. I stayed consistent and never gave up, even when I felt like I couldn’t do it. I’m just a woman who want her brand to do so well, I want to teach others how to become their own boss. I enjoyed teaching other ladies who may want to take a lash course with me, I want them to learn the right way & leave out feeling they made a good choice by taking my course and starting their lash journey.
My work consists of volume|classic|hybrid lash sets. I want potential clients to get to know me as a person & know that I am here to listen to them vent , relax and my main goal which is making them feel beautiful.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience on social media by simply posting my work, using hashtags and staying consistent. When you are starting to build your brand make sure you are posting your work or information about your business. It doesn’t matter how many followers you have, or how many like you are getting, somebody is always watching, so don’t ever be afraid to post. I get most of my new clients from hashtags. I am still trying to build my audience on social media and my followers have been growing, because I post pictures of my work and also reels is another way to build your audience on instagram. Just use your resources.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
For me the most effective strategy for growing my clientele is posting my work on social media, using hashtags, word of mouth and google. I put my business on google where clients can leave reviews. Also just staying consistent. I take pride in my work so I only want to provide excellent services to my clients. I also have loyalty cards I give out as a thank you. I run specials from time to time, and just make sure I’m giving my clients exactly what they are looking for. Word of mouth will be the most effective way to gain new clients. Everyone is different so you basically just have to do what works for you. Those are just a few things that works for me & the outcome has been great.
