We were lucky to catch up with Robin Overton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Robin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
In 2013 when I purchased my first home I was working as a Leasing Manager. There was a bullet point list that I would give my residents and prospects which detailed why renting was better than owning. Once I officially became a homeowner I knew there were some perks to renting but owning had quite a few as well. I’ve worked in Property Management for 10 years but I knew my mission was to assist people become homeowners. I don’t want to be just an agent that finds you a home but helps you understand the process from start to finish. Most people that know me have heard this story 1000 times but purchasing my home is truly what drove me to become a Realtor®.
Robin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Robin Overton or if you are trying to find me on social media Realtor Robin Nicole. I’m a Realtor® in the State of Maryland and I transitioned from the field of Property Management to Real Estate after purchasing my first home and deciding that I did not want to just lease apartments but sell homes. I believe purchasing real estate is so important and will help build community in neighborhoods. So many of us don’t think it is possible or assume we aren’t where we should be financially or credit wise to buy/invest in real estate.
Purchasing a home for me was absolutely scary! I am glad to say that I had an agent that I trusted and guided me throughout the entire process. My goal is to give my buyer’s that same experience. I do not want to just sell homes I want to be able to educate my buyers.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Referrals are always great for building a good reputation! When past clients are happy with your services they will be sure to let other people around them know who you are and how satisfied they were with you. Even if they aren’t a client yet but you assisted them in some way they will remember you and refer you.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Maintaining my social media presence and reminding everyone who knows, loves, and trust me that I am a Realtor® I try to make most of my social media post Real Estate related that way if by chance you forgot that I am a Realtor® that post will surely remind you.
Family and friends can be our biggest promoters. As long as they’re reminded that I am a Realtor® I know I can count on them to refer me whenever they hear someone speaking about Real Estate.
