Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robin Jackson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Robin , thanks for joining us today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
I believe as an artist I find people to be intrigued by my mysterious nature. However, the only mystery is that, am observant. I am observing how men interact with women, how woman interact with men, and how adults interact with children.
I’m constantly thinking about how behaviors of other came about. In all my observing and by studying Human Development and family science, I realized self-observation that leads to growth is my favorite. I pull from others lives so that I can learn more and grow in a diverse way.
Furthermore, I’m someone who has heard plenty of “no’s” and i could consider this as mistaken or I can be optimistic and know it was a repositioning on the more correct path.
Now, I see those no’s as a challenge, a call for action. Every no brings me closer to my next yes. So have I been misunderstood? Sure, but who hasn’t. Has my art been Mischaracterized? Only when I’ve allowed it to due to my wide parameters and flexible work ethic with others.
I take responsibility for how my art is perceived. I take responsibility for making a clear statement, through art and words.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an artist first and a creative second. I think being creative actually fuels the artistry. It’s like the car and it’s gasoline. Being multifaceted; visual art, handmade jewelry, and now diving into digital art. My journey with art continues to grow. I offer this route to others through healing artistic sessions as I hope to give to people an alternative way to work through their mental fog. Or depression. I have ran classes with children with autism, elderly residents with dementia, and even in a woman’s federal prison. All parties found it at least relaxing. I hope to grow into a facility and offer courses and arts of all mediums. The Hives mission is to offer hollistic healing to creatives of all ages. Furthermore, create a community and safe space where artist can come and try their hand at all mediums, in the name of creativity!
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
As a traditional craftsman and visual artist I find NFTs to be the next up and coming medium. I personally bought my iPad because I would love to get in on the FUNgible tokens. It is a game where I believe the individual must be fully educated before they “pay to play”.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
From homelessness, sleeping in my car, family doubting me to living in a new city on my own pursuing art, this is the beginning!
