Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robin Harris Jr. . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Robin , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
As I began to transition into the real world after college, I was trying to figure out what industry did I want to go into and build a successful career. I had played football at the collegiate level and once my athletic career came to end it was time to switch gears. With both of my parents having a careers in entertainment in the past, I wanted to take my chances in getting established in the entertainment industry and navigating my own path. I always thought about the long term and understood the importance of falling in love with the process.
I’ve always had a passion for music & entertainment, but it wasn’t until I was paid for a 30 minute performance, where my confidence grew and I told myself I can make a living from turning my passion into my career. That was the birth of my career as an artist and validated to me that I was capable.
Robin , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Robin Harris Jr., I am a recording artist & entrepreneur from Los Angeles, Ca. My introduction to music started back during childhood growing up in church in Los Angeles, Ca. It wasn’t until after my senior year in college where I decided to pursue my own path in the entertainment industry.
Currently I have released over ten independent music albums as a recording artist. I have been blessed to tour in the Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, San Diego markets. My AOE Global imprint offers music/visual production, as well as recording studio & audio engineering services for songwriters/artists/musicians.
You set a foundation by doing the work no matter the circumstance. What I’m most proud of is building something brick by brick that my team and I are passionate about and being in a position to help others. I’m proud that we created our own lane and stuck to our own script. It always feels great when you can do what you love by being yourself.
I strongly believe that many of our supporters connect with our movement because of the energy that we bring. It’s a unique vibe that many of our supporters resonate with.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
It’s not about the money or fame for me, it’s about the connection that the art makes with people. I prefer to create from life experiences. That’s what keeps me inspired. That’s what keeps me going.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
What will your legacy be? I ask myself that question daily in effort to help me remain focused. I grew up in the inner city of Los Angeles, Ca. Sports and art were always a positive outlet for me and I acquired many lessons on my journey. I learned to appreciate and value life at an early age after losing two of my high school teammates before graduation. I learned that life is short yet precious, so every day that we are blessed to be alive it’s important for us to walk in purpose and leave your legacy on this Earth. I believe that’s what drives me everyday. I want to show those that come from my community or similar environments that no matter the circumstance; that with hard work, dedication and vision you can do something positive with your life.
