We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Roberta Vommaro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Roberta , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?

Roberta , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I partner with entrepreneurs and businesses seeking to build more profitable and sustainable businesses through strategy, operations, marketing and sales. My clients are renaissance: they are multi-passionate individuals, often struggling to organize their multi-skills in a profitable way, or build a business that is truly authentic. They have heard that they can’t be all that they are, that to be profitable, successful or accomplished, they need to act a certain way. They feel stuck, burnt out, or shackled. My work is to support them in finding their authentic voice, while building an effective strategy to take them from where they are to where they want to be.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
At the end of 2018 I opened a brick and mortar studio in one of the most expensive cities in the world (Vancouver, Canada). I invested all of my savings, raised capital from investors and banks, and created something that was truly unique and groundbreaking: a wellness boutique that encompassed all aspects of wellness, from healing to coaching and mindset, from sound therapy to fitness. Within two weeks of operation we had already been featured in the press (organically, not paid advertising), got celebrity endorsements and were on the way for an even bigger success. And then… well, 2020 came. The timing couldn’t be worse for us – we were just at the threshold of starting our second year, when most businesses start to capitalize. Added to the challenge was an extremely unreasonable landlord that refused to negotiate or participate in the government relief programs.
So, in spite of my disappointment, I needed to be strategic. Back in 2018 I had also started an online platform that was connected to my studio, Salt & Spirit Collective. As it turned out, this platform was bringing in more revenue than the actual space. I made an executive decision then: I closed the physical studio, and expanded the wellness platform, which we have kept to this day. Funny enough it was exactly the closure of my studio that allowed me to focus on and expand my coaching, eventually bringing my very own TEDx talk.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Finding your own energetic alignment is the first step into attracting more clients. Authenticity is incredibly magnetic, so the first step is finding your own voice. The second aspect is the strategy in itself, and that depends on your goals, which type of client you’d like to work with, and how you wish to work. This is how we build an aligned business and marketing strategy that will serve both a) your business and b) yourself.
For me personally it has been a combination of word of mouth (or client referral) and sporadic Instagram posts.
