We recently connected with Roberta Vommaro and have shared our conversation below.
Roberta , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been insatiably curious about the human potential and the idea of purpose. I wanted to know, what exactly is it that makes people genuinely happy, fulfilled? Is there a way of experiencing material success and creative fulfillment while connecting to a life of meaning?
As a type A, high-achieving young adult I put these deeper questions and spiritual quest on pause after being accepted to Law School. At the height of my career as an International Tax lawyer, I had all the material success I had hoped for: the job title, the riches, the connections. With each professional accomplishment, I would raise the bar even higher, in pursuit of what I considered “perfection”. And searching for it, I pushed my body to its absolute limits – eventually landing in a hospital bed.
I was burnt out, like really burnt out. But in the midst of my recovery, I found solace in reconnecting with my meditation practice and pondering the direction of my life. Despite having the trappings of success that come with being a high-achiever, I wasn’t feeling fulfilled. So, I did something a little crazy: I left my stable, secure job in law and dove headfirst into teaching yoga and meditation. Years later I built a meditation studio from scratch and started my own coaching business supporting other burnt out high-achievers looking for balance and purpose.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have been coaching high-achievers, executives and eager entrepreneurs for over 15 years now, at some point owning a brick-and-mortar wellness and meditation studio. As someone who’s always been fueled by a burning desire to achieve, I get it. The constant demands and pressures of work can feel overwhelming, whether you’re trying to build a thriving career or launch your own business. But here’s the thing: high-achievers don’t just need any old kind of advice for a balanced life. We need balance that’s empowering, authentic, and downright effective. Nothing less will do.
This is why, after over a decade supporting thousands of individuals, I created The Magnetic Blueprint Method, a bespoke approach that’s specifically designed for those who are ready to cut through anxiety, burnout, and all those other low energy states that are holding them back. This groundbreaking method integrates all of my diverse experience and expertise, and addresses healing and growth on multiple levels. Through the power of Executive Coaching, Meditation, Breathwork, and Human Design, I’m able to get to the root of each client’s unique needs and provide precise, effective advice that allows us to achieve our goals together.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
My mission has always been to help high-achievers find the kind of balance and fulfillment that truly lights them up. But as any savvy business owner knows, sometimes you need to shift and adapt to keep up with the times. In my case, that meant leaving behind my beloved brick-and-mortar meditation studio after the pandemic, and embracing the brave new world of virtual coaching and workshops. And let me tell you, there have been some serious perks to this pivot. Not only am I able to connect with clients from all over the world – from the US to Canada, Europe, Australia, Brazil, Singapore, South Africa, and beyond – but I’m able to offer state-of-the-art meditation workshops and coaching sessions that truly make a difference, even through screens and monitors.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
From the very beginning, I knew I wasn’t your “typical” yoga and meditation teacher. You know the type – all aloof and “love and light,” never really getting into the nitty-gritty of what it means to truly live a spiritual life. For me, it’s always been about integration – the way that spirituality and real life are deeply interconnected, not separate from each other. When you tap into that authentic, powerful energy, it can truly transform every aspect of your life – from your career to your personal relationships and beyond.
Maybe that’s why I’ve always attracted clients who are some of the most intelligent and driven people out there – CEOs who can’t turn off their work brains, entrepreneurs who are determined to make their latest product launch a seven-figure success. They come to me because they know I’m not going to give them some airy-fairy, impractical advice. Instead, I show them how to find balance while still achieving their wildest dreams – whether that means becoming a balanced lawyer or a materially fulfilled yoga teacher.
And even though I myself made the decision to leave law behind and pursue a career in wellness, I’m always quick to emphasize that that’s not the path for everyone. You don’t have to quit your job to find balance. You don’t have to give up on being a high-achiever – I certainly never did, even after becoming a yoga and meditation teacher. It’s all about finding the approach that works for you, and staying grounded and practical along the way. That’s what I like to call being a “pragmatic mystic.”
