We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Roberta Salomao a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Roberta thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
When I started this article process, I didn’t think I would be talking about this, but I actually think about my legacy quite frequently.
I truly believe that the main reason we are here is relationships—how we live and interact with one another. So when I think about legacy, in my point of view, it’s 100% connected with our relationships. Legacy is not about me; it’s about how I helped others and what I did with my time to support building something meaningful for others besides myself.
And that’s where my passion for entertainment plays one of the main characters in my life. There is no better feeling for me than experiencing a live event with people I love. Shared stories, music, feelings, and passions are infinite times better together. Yes, self-love is crucial, but at the end of the day is the connection with each other that makes us feel loved and alive.
So early in life, I knew that’s what I wanted to spend my time doing, creating enough opportunities to make a big impact on people through art. From live shows to movies, I want to make people feel, I want to spark emotions that produce healing, connection, and community.

Roberta, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I recently read a book called The Seven Frequencies of Communication by Erwin Raphael McManus, an author who I have great respect. He reveals the hidden language that connects humanity, explaining how each one of us communicates through one main frequency, linking it straight with our personality. Mine is the Healer frequency, the one that transmits acceptance and wants to extend wholeness to others.
In my younger years, I knew how much I loved entertainment and that my dream was to work in the industry. I didn’t understand at the time fully why and how that would be, people around me often commented things like, “oh, Hollywood”, “it’s all about the glam”, “ego is a big problem”, “people want attention”, among others with the connotation of alerting me from the industry, to be careful where I was putting myself into.
Of course, every place has its downsides, but after 10 years of working in the entertainment industry and meeting the most amazing people, I understand how much we are on it for the art, for others, and for creating purposeful material that will change lives. Entertainment is all about people, it’s a collaborative art that without teamwork, creativity, and diversity, doesn’t go forward. Nowadays being more mature and understanding myself better, I’m so glad that I chose this area and that I keep pursuing it every single day. It’s where I can unleash my Healer frequency onset and offset, in my everyday life but also in the final product created being a live show, a presentation, or a movie.
My philosophy is to trigger positive feelings through entertainment. As I know how much art has changed me/it’s one of the things that makes me feel alive the most, I want to help create that same feeling in others. I know it’s about quality, not quantity but at the same time, the potential reach of entertainment is incredible. The power that one’s artist has to reach and change lives for the better it’s for sure one of the things that I’m most proud of and why I love to work with it.
I think what sets me apart is my know-how of where business and creativity meet. Normally, in this industry, people choose one or the other, but I love to have a keen eye on this intersection. As a producer, I work hard to be a seasoned professional who wears my different hats in whatever necessary situation we face. For me, this varied knowledge with must-have problem-solving and social skills is what a project needs to not only go to the finish line but with excellent worth.

Any advice for managing a team?
I can’t emphasize enough how much I believe in clear, transparent, and honest communication inside the workplace. Sometimes these are the people that we see more than our own family. So that’s why I trust the investment in the company’s culture will never be in vain. It makes a difference not only in everyday work life, workers feel happier and more confident working together, but it’s directly connected to the final product/service provided.
I believe in setting clear expectations and providing the necessary resources and training for my team members. With regular communication and feedback, we ensure that everybody is aligned with the project’s goals and customer or sponsor needs. And, of course, the manager has to set a high-performance example.
I also have a great regard for implementing performance metrics and tracking systems to monitor and improve our work across projects. I want to do everything in my power to help my coworkers achieve their level of excellence.
Lastly, I believe a good manager knows how to balance between ‘no micromanaging’, giving their coworkers responsibilities and new challenges making them feel capable, as well as not leaving any doubts that they have somebody to count on! The leader will be there for mentoring, to be supportive and collaborative—they have to know how to adapt their leadership style depending on the situation.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My passion for entertainment ignited in Brazil, my home country. I started working at Viacom, nowadays Paramount, and the vibrant culture and creative energy were so inspiring. But I yearned for the epicenter of the industry—Los Angeles. It was a bold move, leaving behind a familiar world and starting anew.
Relocating to LA was a whirlwind. I pursued a Master’s in Marketing and Entertainment, eager to equip myself with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. However, the challenges were immense, and still are if I can say. I found myself starting from scratch, building a network in a foreign city.
To make ends meet, I took on various jobs, from babysitting to working as a spa receptionist and a grocery store clerk. These experiences taught me resilience and the value of hard work.
Through perseverance and dedication, today, I’m proud to be part of projects that resonate with audiences and contribute to achieving my philosophy more and more!
