We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Roberta Frazzao. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Roberta below.
Roberta, appreciate you joining us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?
The most unexpected problem was definitely the pandemic in 2020. I quit my full-time job in 2019 and started my new photography business from scratch in February 2020 ( one month before the pandemic hit the world 🤯)
It was a hard season for me. But looking back now I see that the whole situation strengthened me and gave me the resilience every business owner needs to have :)
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
First, I’m Brazilian, and I moved to the USA in 2014. I worked as a nanny for the same family for 5 years and that’s how I start to realize I had an eye for photography. I used to take candid pictures of the kids and the parents kept telling me I had a talent for photography. At some point I felt it was time to invest in my skills. At the beginning my main niche was children photography, but at some point I felt there was more to explore in photography. After some years exploring different niches I can say I found myself in fashion photography and creative portraits. Although, I work with all type of photography, my main niches are fashion and portraits.
Fashion and creative portraits give me the freedom to play with my imagination and create pretty unique things.
I love leaving my unique fingerprints in every work I do :)
How did you build your audience on social media?
Today I have two profiles on social media, my personal one, where I’ve become a type of digital influencer and my professional profile. What I’ve learned while working to build a presence on social media is the only way to build a presence on it is by being yourself and never making your profile only about yourself.
We need to be there to serve and influence people in positive ways.
That has been my personal e experience on social media.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Oh, yes! Going through a unprecedent pandemic on the first two years of my business without throwing the towel and giving up. It was intense (hahaha), but I survived.
