We were lucky to catch up with Roberta Crowell recently and have shared our conversation below.
Roberta, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Five years ago, I quit my job and started my own business.
Initially, I was lucky because I started having events and clients immediately. Still, the pandemic arrived, and it got complicated because I couldn’t do events, which was an essential part of my business.
I had to study and take many courses about SMM, brand positioning, community management, and brand development as PR updates.
Thanks to that, now, I get to work with new clients from around the world, and I know now how important it is to be updated and allow yourself to believe you can achieve your goals even if it takes more time or different ways.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Roberta Crowell. I was born in California and grew up in Guadalajara. I studied Public Relations and Corporate Communication and started working in hospitality when I was 16.
My first job as PR was in a hotel from Habita Group, and from there, I realized how much I like art and working with creative people.
Now the primary services I offer are Public Relations, SMM, Community Management, and brand positioning, mainly for artists.
Also, I’m the sponsorships director for the International Film Festival from Guadalajara, a fantastic festival that brings talented people worldwide and recognizes and supports creatives to achieve their goals with different awards.
