We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Robert Trumper. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Robert below.
Hi Robert, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I take great pride in the fact that I have taken a leap of faith in pursuing my passion and purpose. Unlike those who work for someone else and struggle to make ends meet, I have poured all my earnings from various jobs into my startup organization. Not only that, but I have also personally invested my own funds and donated any profits earned by the organization to help the local community and support our cause in Kenya. Although I have never been wealthy, I always put the fulfillment of my mission above making money. However, this approach poses a significant challenge as my charity requires funding to survive, yet my commitment remains unshaken. As a leader, I confront my fears and take risks every day to ensure that my organization thrives.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a nonprofit professional, I have gained extensive experience in various fields, conducting research, and gathering valuable information from credible sources. I utilize this knowledge to create practical solutions for the environmental issues that plague our society today. Moreover, I educate the community about these problems, aiming to raise awareness and inspire action. In my role as the leader of the organization, I oversee and manage the board of directors, providing them with leadership and support as needed. I am responsible for both executive and organizational leadership, ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the organization run smoothly, while also planning and executing long-term strategic initiatives. Additionally, I handle financial management and administration, ensuring the organization’s fiscal integrity and sustainability through prudent management of resources and adherence to relevant laws and regulations. As the person responsible for overseeing development and fundraising efforts, I’m the one who makes sure that the Ecological Servants Project (ESP) stays afloat. To achieve this, I’m always busy building and cultivating relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate supporters. It’s crucial to me that the organization remains financially stable, so I work tirelessly to ensure that we have the resources we need to make a real difference in the world. It’s an exciting and challenging job, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Lastly, I manage external relations and communications, representing the organization publicly and promoting its mission and programs in a positive manner.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
To grow your clientele, focus on building relationships through engagement, appreciation, and networking. We encourage our satisfied volunteers to recommend EcoServants to their friends and family. Remember to use content marketing to showcase your expertise and reach new audiences through social media and other digital channels. Partner with local businesses and organizations to expand your reach and tap into new markets. Keep your branding consistent and memorable to make a strong impression. Attending events and actively reaching out to potential clients to establish our presence as a leader in our industry has been very effective. By consistently implementing these strategies, you can attract new clients and build lasting relationships with your existing ones.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I used to feel like I was living in a world that didn’t see me – like I was invisible, and my voice didn’t matter. But that all changed when I discovered my soul’s true purpose through my deep connection with nature. You see, my journey hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced some significant struggles in my life, including depression, abuse, and even homelessness. And on top of all that, I was battling a relentless addiction to drugs. But I refused to let these obstacles define me. I stayed fiercely resilient, never giving up on myself or my dreams. Then, something shifted. I became aware of the impact I could make on society and realized that I couldn’t keep living without a greater purpose. I dug deep, found my passion, and co-founded the Ecological Servants Project (ESP) with a friend. Together, we started making a positive difference in the world and each day felt like a new adventure. Although my friend is no longer part of the organization, I’m more committed than ever to carrying on the mission we started. ESP is my calling, and it’s where I belong. Through this work, I’m making a meaningful impact on the planet and creating a better future for us all.
