We recently connected with Robert Pace and have shared our conversation below.
Robert , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I actually was in the real estate business for several years full time before I started my venture of opening up recovery homes. I was juggling working as a real estate agent, AirBnB owner, running a property management business/ short term rental business, as well as flipping several homes a year. My team and I had actually purchased one home which we had no idea on what we should do with the property. We felt as if the possibilities were endless. We juggled between turning it into an AirBnB, fixing the property then selling it, then one of our later options, were turning the property into a recovery home or (sober home). This was something that had a very special meaning to me as addiction runs very deep in my family. I lost my cousin and one of my very close friends to their battles with addiction in 2016 and in 2022. I have also had family members live in sober homes before and remember them having terrible experiences during their residency at these homes. So when the idea of turning this into a sober home came up, despite our team having concerns about venturing down this path, I was all in on the idea. I was very passionate about the idea of becoming a thought leader in the space, battling the stigmas behind sober living homes, and also help raising the standards for other sober homes to follow. Our mission is to provide affordable upscale housing for the recovery community. At Wings of Hope Recovery we focus on providing community, accountability, and structure to all who enter our doors.

Robert , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
So I started off in the real estate industry, from there I juggled multiple streams of income through my real estate license. Then I really narrowed down on what I was passionate about, which was being able to make money while helping people. I truly felt like I had a calling to this industry for many personal reasons. I am very proud with how much our management team has developed, we are constantly looking at ways we can improver internally because in turn it only helps us provide more to our residents. Our companies core values are 1). Community – our staple on what we feel is most important out of any sober living 2). Accountability – we truly hold all of our residents accountable not just in keeping clean but multiple other areas in their lives such as chores, meeting attendance, maintaining employment 3). Structure – enforcing a schedule has always helped me personally ensure i accomplish all my tasks I have on a daily basis and helps promote personal growth.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One important lesson I take with me everyday is that there is no competition besides yourself in this world. My only goal is to be better than the person I was yesterday, in all aspects of my life: my faith, my family, and then my business

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Truly just being myself, not trying to be someone I was not. I am always open and transparent on my line of thinking and if something does not align with my views I always am sure to convey that respectfully and professionally.
