Robert, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Please tell us about starting your own firm and if you’d do anything different knowing what you know now.
We started the journey to launching our own firm well before we thought we were ready! With only about a year and a half into Real Estate and 2 Icon Awards under my belt we were fortunate enough to crack the formula and develop our own lead generation company. The firm we were with wanted access and we weren’t ready to give it so we made the decision to go on our own. I wasn’t even Broker In Charge eligible at the time and had to have one of our other agents be the BIC for a few months. Just like my solo career, our firm took off immediately and found great success. Our biggest hiccup was scaling systems and streamlining the agent experience. We had some growing pains at first but eventually steadied the ship.
Now we increase production every single month at a rate of about 300% and our agents that come in find instant success in getting properties under contract. My advice for anybody thinking of starting a firm, or contemplating any major life change would be to follow your heart! The timing is never right, but if you give everything you have… it’ll work itself out.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I started in real estate after quitting my government job cold turkey in 2021. Since then I’ve sold over 150 homes for north of $60,000,000 in my solo career. This earned me 2 icon awards, CRP top 500, expertise.com top 10, Best of Gaston, and Gaston Gazette Reader’s Choice awards.
This solo success allowed me the opportunities to create partnerships to include developing our own lead company and becoming the only official partner of one of the nation’s largest lenders. What we provide to agent’s coming in is invaluable proprietary technology that guarantees them business from day 1. We are very fortunate to have this at a time when business is very uncertain for most firms.
What I’m most proud of is what MGR stands for and that we (my wife Lindsay and I) run the firm like a family… But at the same time, we are very proud of the freedom this position has created for us to spend all the time we want with our daughters.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
We have a full marketing and content creation team at MGR that helps attract not only clients but agents as well. The main source we use for growing our Rolodex is the lead generation company that we developed.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
That you have to wait your turn. Real estate is an industry that was due to have new life in it for some time now. I quickly realized that this industry doesn’t care how long you’ve been in business but rather what you do for your clients. We came in and kicked in the front door immediately.
