We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Robert Losey. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Robert below.
Hi Robert, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When I was retired from the military my family and I moved to DC, which was kind of a culture shock. While there people would always call me “country” and I would always have to teach the lesson between country and southern. From that “Southern Official” was born. I am him, he is me Mr. Southern Official.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a Father,Son, Husband and veteran of the United States Army. I consider my brand as a cultural movement to promote the South in all its wonders through my radio station (SouthernOfficial Radio) and clothing brand. I am also a big vinyl record collector and other vintage music formats. When I hear Andre 3000 say the iconic “ The South got something to say” I totally believe this.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Word of mouth has been a huge source of new clients. People always say that dude with the vinyl records. But having a social media presents has helped also. Being able to document my journey of meeting top artist and them signing my records is a plus.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
When times get tough just know God would never put more on you than you can handle. Your path is already paved you just have to walk it. If it were easy everyone would have it .
