Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robert Harris. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Robert, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? The world needs to hear more realistic, actionable stories about this critical part of the business building journey. Tell us your scaling up story – bring us along so we can understand what it was like making the decisions you had, implementing the strategies/tactics etc.
Since the release of my clothing brand Stylistic Science, I prided myself to stay consistent and keep my vision clear. I knew that if I constantly designed fresh clothing and properly marketed my brand it would reach the masses. I understood that it would be a process to make my vision manifest into reality, however I was willing to go through it.
When I first started my clothing brand I was in college, which was very fortunate, because that right there was a free market that I can tap. I set up photoshoots and handed out business cards to give my brand some attention. This lead to college students on campus gravitating to my brand. I would sell my clothing directly out of my dorm room. As my brand started to make more noise CBS News reached out to me and wanted to interview me about Stylistic Science. The interview catapulted my brand even further, causing more sales, and even celebrities started to reach out to get their hands on my clothing. Everything was moving at a consistent rate from there on out.
The main obstacle I face with my brand, up into this day is time management. I work a full time job as a digital marketing manager/designer, I have my own design agency, and I developed two of my very own iOS Apps. With that being said you can only imagine how difficult is to consistently give 100% to my clothing line. However, I make it happen by strategizing the proper time to invest into each one of my businesses.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
I’m a designer based out of NY. Since a child I always had a passion for creating and expressing myself through art. I got into my industry naturally by understanding myself. I realized that my true passion was to create, so that led me into the field of design. I own a clothing brand called ‘Stylistic Science’, as well as a design agency. I also developed two mobile apps called ‘Don’t Be A Hypebeast’ and ‘Stay Woke: Daily Quotes.
What sets me apart from others is my versatility. I’m a designer in multiple fields. Fashion design, graphic design, website design, and also app design.
The thing that I’m most proud of is the fact I did everything by myself, exactly how I wanted it.
The main thing I want people to know about me is that I’m all about spreading positivity to the world. Everything I do/create is geared towards helping others.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building your audience on social media is a challenge that most people face in business. It was a process with building my audience on social media, until I started to really research how to properly market your business online. I came to the realization that you simply have to be yourself and confidently express the message behind your business. Show people the story behind your vision and give the viewers a reason to want to support it. Also, you have to engage with your particular market.
Expressing my authentic self and the message behind my businesses is how I built my following on social media.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being authentic, producing quality product/service and good customer service.
