We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Robert Gomez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Robert, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Taking a risk is a lot easier said than done. Taking a risk means you have to be prepared to take a accept failure, success, bad investments, to make a shim of a positive investment, to get out of your comfort zone and elevate your ways of thinking, to be misunderstood while being understood at the same time. You have to be willing to go that extra mile that the next person wouldn’t dare risk and that’s how you know you made a difference. Everybody always talks about how they were able to make themselves known for whatever field they’re succeeding in but they never talk about the sacrifices and risks they had to make to get there. It won’t always be easy to take that leap of faith but five years from now, you won’t have to question yourself with, “what if,” questions. The honest part of taking a risk is being able to say you decided to make a confidence and conscience decision to accept your wins and loses. It won’t ever be easy and sometimes your self esteem might get shattered, but every step taken towards to your goal is just another step added to the ladder you get to achieve your happiness, goals, and dreams.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is PGMaineee and I loved music since I was kid. It always seemed to be my escape route to reality for how harsh it can be. I do my own mixing and mastering and I am a self thought engineer. I being doing music since 2016 and had multiple talented people to work with. I’m grateful for every opportunity that was granted to me in this field and given everything I would have never wanted to change anything that came. I want to say my voice and my sound I bring is really what sets me apart from the majority of the people that compete in the same field as me. I have a raspy voice with a warm message so that’s how I get peoples attentions. Listen to one of my songs and I promise you’ll be eager to listen to the next track I have to provide for you.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best thing I can say about this, is you see someone, on social media or in person, that has actual talent and you see them being bigger than they originally are; share their information. On the news, social media, even word of mouth can make an impact in your career. If we can share content that makes us laugh, cry, criticize, or even love someone, why not share something that could positively change someone’s future?
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect I can say from my career is the connection I get from my fans. I always love getting questions about I decided to come up with a certain song because of the scenario I was able to paint.
