Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robbie Kumeso. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Robbie thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
How did I learn to do what I do ? I always knew I was funny but being funny on stage and being funny with your friends are two different things. With Stand Up comedy there’s not a way you can speed up the learning process. the more you do it the better you get. You are your own biggest obstacle when it comes to standup comedy

Robbie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
A little bit about me.I was born in the Republic of Congo. Kinshasa , that’s the capital. Moved here when I was about 11. I’ve been in the States ever since. And how I got started in comedy, I went to see a friend of mine in Texas. And on my way there, I was driving. I stopped by Oklahoma City. They had an open mic comedy show. I watched it. I didn’t go up, but, you know, it planted a seed. When I got back where I live in Denver, I tried it out. It didn’t really go well the first time, but it’s something I wanted to keep pursuing, so I just kept doing it more and more and started getting better . The main things I want potential followers/fans to know about me is that I’m a hard worker, original and Hopefully they will enjoy themself at one of my shows .
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
A particular mission and goal driving my creative journey. My goal is to max out whatever potential that I have in comedy and just life. I’m not sure what that means as far as the future, but everyday I try to get a little bit better and better and just see where it takes me and just try to get out as much as I can with the skills, talent and things that I know.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is somebody coming up to you and saying they enjoyed or related to something you said or did on stage.
