We recently connected with Rob Gs Aka Lucky and have shared our conversation below.
Rob Gs, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
My New Album im working on called”Robert West Jr” a motivational album and showing my transition in life and music and sending messages for the youth to do positive things and be more productive in life and pass these positive messages ton their friends and family as well.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well i started maing music when i was about 12 years old. what and who inspired me were artist like eminem and 50 cent but mainly eminem. i used to get bullied at one point as a child and his music used to make me wanna fight back and also the rap battles i seen on his movie were inspirational and i could just relate to a lot of what he was saying. i honestly started taking it very serious when i was about 22 or 23 especially after my first child was born. studying my idols and understanding that goin hard no matter your circumstance helped me alot and im blessed to learn these things and putting god first. im happy i have god in my life and im happy i learned about discpline doing the things you need to do everyday regardless of what mood your in and how you feel thats what sets me apart from the rest. even grinding for years and not being where you wanna be dosent make me wanna stop its apart of the journey and just makes me wanna go even harder at what i do especially having children and a great family like my parents and brothers and sisters and nieces and nephews
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, my main goal isn to inspire everyone especially those who doubt them selves or struggle with something in life and my muisc is to motivate them and drive them to overcome that and completely change their life for the better. also its a lot of negative trends goin on in hip hop like people make it all about the money and the cars and thats cool and all but now its to a point people just feel like they have to be negative in order to get noticed and suceed and its also making it seem like thats how its supposed to be. people posting guns money and wanted to havebeef i wanna start a trend to where positive things and being yourself is good and a trend. because most of us live in poverty but now the money thats glorified makes people get laughed at for being poor and not having money. people will literally have pictures faking it like they have money and wearing designer clothes but be broke and living with their parents which is crazy. everyone progresses differently and at differemt times so its nothing wrong with not bein where you wanna be yet as long as your trying and your doing all you can. so yeah i definetly wanna change the narrativbe and make positive trends
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
the most rewarding is the progression and to make music that really brings tears to peoples eyes in a good way and to know that it gpt them through the tough time that they were going thtrough and knowing that they were not alone during htis time. it also feels good because they feel so related to that they open up to me and dm me asking me for advice and love me and my music for really being me and having so much meaning to it which is why i transitioned
