We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ro Nwosu a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ro, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
I was a new parent in a new town. On top of that I went through Postpartum Depression and really wasn’t sure how to cope between taking care of my son and the other responsibilities that piled on top. One day I ordered sandwiches/donairs from a local restaurant in town. When the deliver person arrived whom I now know as Don the owner of Renfrew Pizzaria, he asked if he could help me out, talked to me, placed the food so it was easily accessible, mentioned kind words about how I was doing a great job and to take my time do what I can each day. It was the most wonderful thing and those words have stuck since.
Ro, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As a human, mom, yoga, movement educator & content creator, I’ve learned that growth and happiness comes from wellness, connecting with your surroundings, keeping it real and never being afraid to jump into experiences.
My goal is to inspire others to incorporate wellness and fun daily in ways that they love, open their minds to exploring beyond their front door and improving their connections. Especially with themselves through authenticity, working with brands and fun.
I’ve been a yoga teacher for over 10 years and I’m most proud those that practice whether its with me or others using the tools they’ve learned to bring wellness on and off the mat. To see them engage in their local community, create brave spaces and empower others to try new things.
I love focusing on show others that BIPOC humans have a wide range of interests, can be leaders, can be community connectors but most of all that wellness is available to everyone.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Hundred percent, this the first profession I have felt authentically me. I can not only flourish but learn from everything and anything. Whether it’s challenges, celebrations or people.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Understanding that everyone has potential, always trying my best to be compassionate, being myself so others can be themselves.
