We recently connected with RJ Allen and have shared our conversation below.
RJ, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about a time where you or your team really helped a customer get an amazing result?
Working with athletes every week and seeing them improve as both players and people. We take great pride here at ap2t along with all my staff to go the extra mile when working with the athletes. There’s more to it than just the one or two trainings a week with us. Seeing an athlete improve and be more confident when they walk in the door is so rewarding. Seeing the success they have is a direct correlation to the hard work and dedication they are putting in on their own.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Growing up in a small city in Old bridge NJ I fell in love with the game of soccer. During my time in college at Monmouth university I really started to enjoy working with youth athletes and become a Teacher of the game. Working with youth athletes to share my experience on and off the field and be of advice to them as I have been through the American system here in NJ. I started training at ap2t with founder Mike Olim before becoming business partners. It was an easy transition from playing in the MLS. Coaching and mentoring youth athletes has always been an ambition of mine even at a young age. It’s something I take a great deal of pride and joy in and love sharing my experiences with each and every player. AP2T specializes in constructing an individualized training program to help athletes reach their maximum potential.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My story is unique. I was drafted in the MLS straight out of college before going to Denmark. When I returned 2 years later I was very adamant about coming back home and playing in front of my family. Upon returning I was very hopeful to get called into a preseason camp. Unfortunately that day didn’t come early on or as quick as I would have liked. I was out of the game for a few months. It wasn’t until April when I finally got the call 1 month into the season from NYCFC. The call came and I was ready to go. I got called into training and I performed. I kept myself fit and I was working hard and stayed hopeful that the call would come. NYCFC gave me an opportunity and I answered the bell. I was fortunate to play many years in the league and make an impact.
Let’s move on to buying businesses – can you talk to us about your experience with business acquisitions?
I now am into real estate and owner of Restauraunt Mangia Brick oven Pizzeria. My family has 3 locations Toms River, Jackson and Shrewsbury.
