We were lucky to catch up with River Low recently and have shared our conversation below.
River, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Buspresso started with two things I’ve always loved: coffee and community. I wanted to create something that went beyond just serving drinks — a place where people could feel welcome, seen, and connected, even if it was through a window on wheels.
The idea came to me while dreaming up a mobile café that could bring great coffee to all kinds of places, while still creating a local, familiar feel. What better way to do that than with a school bus? It’s nostalgic, unexpected, and mobile. The bus itself isn’t just a shell — it’s the heart of the whole thing. Every detail was thought out: from the layout to the espresso machine to the way sunlight hits the counter in the morning. And as I started building out the concept, it just made sense to combine that feeling with espresso — and Buspresso was the name that stuck.
I started serving coffee from Buspresso on May 15, 2025, but the story really began long before that — in my own backyard, building out the bus by hand with my dad. He brought the carpentry skills, I brought the vision, and together we repurposed wood we had lying around into a space that feels warm, intentional, and totally unique.
Every detail was chosen with purpose — because I want this to be more than a coffee stop. I want it to feel like home on wheels. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular, you’ll always be greeted like a friend.
We’ve got something for everyone, from your go-to espresso drink to matcha, teas, and other non-coffee options. The goal is simple: make you feel good, with a great drink in hand — and maybe even make your day a little brighter.
So whether we’re parked in your neighborhood or popped up at a local event, know that you’ve got a personal barista waiting in the bus.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi, I’m River — the founder, barista, and creative behind Buspresso, a mobile coffee bar built inside a repurposed school bus.
My journey into this industry started with a simple love for coffee — not just as a drink, but as an experience. Coffee has always been something that brings people together. It’s a ritual, a comfort, and sometimes even a lifeline on a hard day. I wanted to be part of that.
But even more than coffee, I’ve always been driven by connection and community. I love being around people, hearing their stories, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome — not judged or rushed, but seen. That idea stuck with me: How could I build a space that could move, show up in unexpected places, and still offer that same feeling of familiarity and comfort?
That’s where Buspresso came in.
In fall of 2024, I started building out a retired school bus in the northeast, with the help of my dad, using wood and materials we sourced right from my own backyard. He brought the carpentry skills, I brought the vision — and together we turned an empty shell into a warm, inviting, and fully functional mobile café.
We officially hit the road on May 15, 2025, In Denver, Colorado, and since then, Buspresso has been serving handcrafted drinks — from rich espresso to refreshing matcha and teas — at markets, pop-ups, fairs, and street corners across our community.
What sets Buspresso apart is more than the aesthetic or the fact that we serve out of a bus — it’s the intention behind everything we do. I want people to feel like they’re stepping up to something special, not just for a drink, but for a moment. A familiar face, a kind word, a great cup, and a reason to smile.
Whether someone is looking for their daily go-to, something new, or even a non-coffee option, I aim to make them feel seen and catered to. I don’t want people to feel like customers — I want them to feel like they have their own barista on wheels.
What I’m most proud of is how personal this business is. Every screw in the bus, every drink I serve, every interaction — it’s all been built from the ground up with intention, creativity, and care. I didn’t just want to start a business — I wanted to build something people could count on and feel connected to.
For anyone discovering Buspresso for the first time, here’s what I want you to know:
• You’re always welcome here.
• You don’t need to be a coffee expert — just someone who enjoys good drinks and good people.
• We’re more than a coffee stop — we’re a rolling community space.
• Everything here is made with care, creativity, and love (and probably a little sawdust from the backyard).
Buspresso is still growing, and I’m grateful for every person who stops by and becomes part of this journey. Whether you find us at a weekend event or just parked in your neighborhood, I hope you leave with more than just a drink — I hope you leave with a good feeling.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my wonderful partner in 2023 at a coffee shop in Denver, Colorado. I was employed for about a year before she was hired on. It was all business for the first few months, barely even speaking to each other. However, we began closing our store often together which helped us spark up conversations. This blossomed into an amazing friendship. We began going on hikes, dates, and spending time with one another after work. I’m so happy to have her by my side and supporting me throughout my journey.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
One of the main ways I build loyalty is through promo cards — a punch card system that rewards returning customers. It’s a small gesture, but it really adds up over time and lets people know I appreciate them. A lot of my regulars carry theirs around and get excited when they’re close to that free drink — it builds a sense of connection and gives them a reason to keep coming back.
