We caught up with the brilliant and insightful River Cody a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi River, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I’ve always been slightly obsessed with creating a visual a tory people can connect with. On September 11, 2010, I turned 11… and all I wanted for my birthday was to make a movie. The film was obviously horrible, and was all about a zombie outbreak, not the point. From a young age, I’ve always wanted to create a story people can connect with and benefit from when implementing the message into their own lives. Films have a more psychological impact on the brain and can sway a person’s internal and external actions… so why not create for good. This is the same for music. Music also has a major impact on us… so that’s where is started. I started searching for musicians with a real story and a real message. I partner with them, only to emphasize their story. By partnering with many artists, we have been able to create and impact.y company is called, “The 1 Video Productions.” This is because our goal is to reach many, in attempts to impact THE 1.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am the owner of a video production company named, “The 1 Video Productions.” Our goal is create narrative content + social media content for musicians with a strong message/story. Our projects are meant to reach many, in order to impact THE 1.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
When it comes to creating, many people get lost in crafting a full time income out of their talents. This is a very good goal, but many do it in unhealthy ways. They begin to sacrifice their values and beliefs to get the next paycheck or to get more recognition… they begin to sacrifice their true creativity for what will sell. My mission in moving forward it to help people create not only for a living, but to create for a purpose. That they would remember why they started, and who they started for.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
When it comes to filmmaking, I have probably put over $5,000 into courses. The problem is, I wish I would have done more. Courses and educational content is going to fuel the most beneficial tools you have… your work ethic and your creativity.
