We recently connected with Riveka Wipprecht and have shared our conversation below.
Riveka, appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents, Ivonne and Mynor Escobar, are the owners of Kairos Home Improvement, Inc. They worked tiredlessly on this business from 2014 to now to get where we are today. They did not quit when it became to hard and they faced challenges with a solution oriented mind set. I believe they raised me this way as well.
When I graduated college in 2020, we were in the midst of COVID. I was looking for a job in Marketing, which proved to be even tougher than a “normal” job market. They were very quick to offer me a job, to which I refused because I did not want to work with my parents. However, after about 2 months, I finally agreed to join the Kairos team as the Marketing Specialist.
When I started, I implemented Social Media and basic advertising in the business and we created a real structured business model together. From there, the company continued to grow like crazy!
My parents were always very goal driven, and I believe it has helped me in each position I have ever worked in, but especially in my current role as Client Relations Manager. Their stride in becoming a General Contractor that shifts the common ‘Contractor Ideal’ has been nothing short of amazing. Obviously, their impact has influenced my career, given that if it wasn’t for them, I would have never found out the passion I have for home remodeling and making someone’s dream home come to life.
Today, my parents are able to take a few steps back and enjoy life, because of the hard work and dedication they have put into their company and into growing each employee into the roles they are in today.
Riveka, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Mynor, the owner, was an HVAC Specialist by trade and started to do projects at home to renovate his own home. He had a moment where he thought to himself, that he could do this for other people. And thus Kairos Home Improvement, Inc. was born. I feel into the industry since my parents own and operate the company.
Kairos Home Improvement is a General Contracting company that services Residential and Commercial Renovations. We are a one-stop shop for home owners, investors, and property managers.
We are a family and miniority owned business that prides itself on integrity. From customer service to home care, we take the extra step to ensure that all of our client’s have an experience that welcomes them into our family. We have crews that specialize in each area they work in; so we always have experts working in your homes/properties in their respective areas.
We studied the ideaology of Contractors from client’s persepctives. We took everything people dislike about contractors and spun it around to create our business model. I am most proud of the ability to identify these opportunity areas to create an experience for our clients’ that is enjoyable and exciting.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
I think for growing clientele, the best strategy has been to utilize social media. Eer since we established a brand, and started sharing photos and videos, the job load has increased. We started on our Instagram, a “follow along with us” approach where we post about our projects as they are happening. It makes our followers feel like they are a part of the process, because they are! It gets our client’s excited to see their work being showcased, and it provides full transparency on what is going on in their projects.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients would have to be word of mouth referrals! Most of the time, these types of referrals are our cliente’s friends, co-workers, family, etc. So more than likely, they already have an idea of the quality of work we can do “in real life” rather than a photo. They have had the opportunity to hear someone speak on our level of service and customer service first hand. It’s always fun to meet people who know our previous/current clients!
