We were lucky to catch up with Rita Ambrosi recently and have shared our conversation below.

Rita, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.

In 2022 I relocated to Cleveland and with that transition, I decided to invest in myself and understand why I love photography so much and why I am so passionate about it. Although I had been working as a photographer for some years before, after some time I just started doing things automatically without any passion or creativity.

But I understood that I had to take a break and go back to the roots. to reconnect with that passion and to start doing photography from the heart. To create work that represents me and that makes people feel something, to really connect with people and uniquely witness everyday moments. That meant taking risks, changing, possibly losing clients, and redefining my goals.

I cannot explain why taking that risk was so important, and the fear I feel every day about failing or not doing something according to others. Comparison too, is something I struggle with every day. But I also know that taking that risk was fundamental for me. After almost two years I can see the rewards of that change. It will always be scary, but I know today that courage is the mastery of this fear, not the absence of it.

Rita, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

When I was growing up in Mexico, I always wanted to explore the world. I was fascinated by how people lived in different parts of the world. Traveling was a big dream of mine, and it still is. Going on trips with my family made me incredibly happy. I loved experiencing new things – sights, sounds, tastes – everything was exciting. Those trips expanded my understanding of the world and made me appreciate the thrill of discovering new countries and their cultures.

But I never imagined that my adventurous side would lead me to leave my home country, maybe even permanently, with my loved ones, to embrace a life where new experiences are always around the corner. Experiencing life in Mexico, Europe, Central America, and now the US has been an amazing part of our journey. It has made us vulnerable and brave; we have learned to come together as a strong, united family, embracing both the good and the bad days, and opening our minds to the unknown. Overall, the growth we have experienced is beyond imagination.

It has always been my passion to take photos of special moments. I am shy and observant, I look at moments and take snapshots in my mind, so I can remember them forever. This is why photography is so special to me.

Today, I am a Cleveland family, newborn, and maternity photographer and have been capturing unique photos for families for over 7 years. I love stories of life and love. Meeting new people, and photographing their journey is what brings me joy. Documenting and witnessing hidden moments instead of the posed ones. I really think people will want to remember their true essence and the raw moments of life.

My style is natural, relaxed, and real. My goal is to create a stress-free family photography session, where both parents and kids come and enjoy the moment, and truly be present. Capturing an image that is natural and spontaneous while creating a photograph that is timeless and full of soul is what inspires me.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

During the last 15 years, I have had the opportunity to live in 4 different countries. One of the key aspects of living an international life is the ability to adapt to new cultures and ways of life. Each country has its unique customs, traditions, and social norms. It requires an open mind and a willingness to embrace these differences. By immersing in these new cultures, I have not only gained a deeper understanding of the world but also developed a sense of empathy and appreciation for diversity.

It has also meant stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing new experiences. It has required leaving behind the familiar and venturing into the unknown. Whether it’s trying new foods, exploring unfamiliar landscapes, or participating in local traditions, every day brings an opportunity for growth and discovery. It may be daunting at times, but the personal growth and enrichment that I have experienced from pushing my boundaries is invaluable.

But this life has also tested my resilience and taught me to be brave and strong. It has involved immersing myself in new cultures, learning new languages, and embracing new experiences. While it may come with its fair share of challenges, the rewards of gaining a broader perspective, developing empathy, and experiencing personal growth make it a truly enriching and transformative experience.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

Being an artist is an incredibly rewarding journey that allows me to perceive the world in unique and captivating ways. Through my art, I have the opportunity to meet individuals from diverse cultures, observe their lives, and capture their essence through photography. This experience has granted me a deeper understanding of how people from different backgrounds interact and how their family dynamics can be so different from ours. It has truly opened my eyes to the richness of our world, reminding me that it is far more expansive than we often perceive it to be.

The ability to connect with people from various cultures and document their stories has been a profound source of inspiration for me as an artist. Each encounter offers a glimpse into a different way of life, allowing me to appreciate the beauty of diversity and the multitude of human experiences. Witnessing the interactions, traditions, and relationships within these cultures has broadened my perspective and enriched my artistic vision. It has taught me to embrace the differences that exist among us and has fueled my desire to capture and share these unique narratives with the world.

The most fulfilling aspect of being an artist lies in the exploration of the world through a creative lens. Meeting individuals from diverse cultures, observing their lives, and documenting their stories has broadened my understanding of humanity. this has inspired me to continue capturing and sharing these remarkable experiences through my art.
