Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Riski Wahyuningsih. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Riski, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
I am a freelance Illustrator from Indonesia. I started working as an illustrator through several platforms such as Fiverr and Upwork. I got several projects ranging from NFT Art, Stickers, illustration posters/books, mascot logos for business food, and many more.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
During the last 3 years as an illustrator, I have experienced many things and the projects I have worked on. Currently I not only work alone, I have 3 colleagues who help me to complete incoming projects. In one month I managed to manage at least 200 illustration projects. My team and I feel capable of working on more projects than that.
I also enjoy spending my time discussing ongoing projects with clients. For example, sharing references when the image concept is not clear. Or I also don’t hesitate to provide a free sketch before the order begins as a consideration for potential clients before hiring me as their illustrator
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal and my colleagues at the studio is to become a big illustration studio. Where my colleagues and I have our own office and can recruit at least new graduates who may be confused about looking for work with a positive and supportive environment for mutual growth. I want the younger generation to have space for them to work according to their interests and talents in the field of digital drawing.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I want to learn about global markets. Currently I still depend on several platforms such as Fiverr and Upwork. I hope that in the future I can network with fellow international businesses and I can meet their needs in the field of promotional illustration or graphic design for business.
