Hi Riley, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?

I wanted to build something that helped spread awareness and a deeper understanding about energy. I grew up learning all about it through crystals, meditation, reiki, etc. It always lit my soul on fire to explore the energy of everything around me. I loved having deep talks about why we are here, what’s our purpose, manifestation, law of attraction, all that good stuff. I wanted to spread awareness on these thoughts and ideas and let people know that it’s okay to ask yourself why? You don’t have to just follow this life path system that they have in place for us. It’s okay to explore concepts, people, and places. I feel my mission is to encourage everyone to flow into their passions, even if at times they are scared of failure. This is where energy really comes into play because if we believe anything is possible, then absolutely anything can be possible. I want to help people step into their authenticity, heal their fears, and live the life they truly want to live. I want them to blossom into becoming.

Riley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

My name is Riley Goben, I am a 22 year old multi-business owner and spiritual advisor. I offer channeled insight from angels/spirit guides and advice through intuitive reading and oracle cards. In addition, I offer energy infused crystals and crystal jewelry that are available for purchase on my website. Each crystal is personally cleansed and blessed with beautiful love and light energy. 2% of all proceeds are donated to Care’s Gender Equality and Women Empowerment Fund, striving to uplift the collective conscious and empower women all around the world.

I first began my spiritual journey/awakening around the age of 8 when my parents would talk openly about energy in relation to reiki, meditation, manifestation, and more. My intuitive abilities grew stronger with age and by 16 years old I was able to channel for not only myself, but those around me as well. I officially started my business a year ago when I felt called to turn my passions and gifts into a career. I hope to inspire the masses to do the same.

My clients are absolutely phenomenal human beings and I am beyond proud of the growth they have made. Magical things can happen when you choose to fully believe in yourself. I am currently taking on new clients for one time, weekly, or monthly sessions. I pray that each client that I am meant to cross paths with will come into my auric field. We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

I completely had to unlearn the idea that failure is wrong. This idea was deeply formed within me because of the school system. We are taught that you must excel at everything you do – be a straight A student. If you aren’t good at everything, then you won’t get scholarships and therefore might not succeed in life as well as your peers. I think this system is entirely deconstructive.

What I have learned is that the ONLY way to succeed is by failing, especially in business. You are never going to do something perfect the first time you do it or be the best at marketing, communication, accounting, etc. Sometimes the best way to learn is by trail and error. It’s okay to not be perfect and it’s encouraged to ask for help when you are struggling. There are so many kind people who want to help, educate, and support you.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

Most of my initial investment came from working at a restaurant since the age of 16. I saved most of my money towards college and got my Associate’s Degree at a community college in my hometown. However, I got cold feet before moving onto a university. There was no way I could immediately blow all of it on higher education when I didn’t fully know what I wanted to do with my life.

During this time I found my passion for exploration and travel. I had planned an entire expedition around Europe, North Africa, and West Asia that I was excited to start when my apartment lease ended in August of 2020. Unfortunately, as you know, COVID-19 hit in March of that year and travel no longer became an option.

So there I was with a good chunk of money, large life ideas, and a burning passion to take control of my life and live my dreams. This is when the idea of Celestine Crystals started. My ultimate dream was to be able to see the world and make a living at the same time. That is where I am at currently. About to start a second business and ready to pursue my businesses full time.

My advice for those who want to start a business is this: There is always going to be downsides of whatever career path you choose. You have to understand your priorities to know what’s best for you. If you value comfort and routine, then a 9-5 would work great. However, if you want to be in charge of your own schedule and like to take risks, then starting a business is for you. As I once read in a book: you have to ask yourself what is work struggling for, because there will always be struggles. For me, the struggle was working a high energy, demanding serving job for years to get to the place I want to be. I believe sooner than later, it will all be worth it.
