Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Riley Conn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Riley, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
Yes, absoulutley! I didnt really get started in my art career until I was 50. I graduated college in Economics and started the rat race of life. I always enjoyed art and wished I was an artist. Before you know it, Im 50 years old and said screw it, Im goinig to try this, successful or not. It has been an awesome ride. Hard, humbeling, frustrating, and I love it. I fall asleep thinking about values and colors.

Riley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Riley Conn, and I am the founder and creative force behind Riley Conn Art Studio. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share my journey and passion with you.
My love affair with art began at a young age, and over the years, it transformed into a deep-seated passion that I couldn’t ignore. Fuelled by my desire to express emotions, stories, and ideas through visual means, I embarked on a journey that led me to establish Riley Conn Art Studio.
My studio specializes in producing captivating and evocative pieces of art that resonate with both the heart and the mind. I offer a range of products and services, including original paintings, commissioned artworks, and limited edition prints. My creative works span a variety of styles, from contemporary abstract pieces that challenge perceptions to impressionistic images that capture the essence of individuals and landscapes.
I am incredibly proud of the recognition the studio has garnered for its ability to translate stories into paintings. From a heartfelt portrait that captures the spirit of a loved one to a thought-provoking impressionist representation of life’s journey, each piece holds a piece of my heart and soul.
To those considering collaborating with Riley Conn Art Studio, I want you to know that I am not just an artists; I am a storyteller. My brushstrokes encapsulate moments, emotions, and dreams. When you choose us, you’re choosing an immersive experience that will leave you with art that speaks to you.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Supporting artists, creatives, and a thriving creative ecosystem is crucial for a vibrant and culturally rich society. Here are some ways that society can contribute to this:
Invest in Education: A strong foundation in arts education from a young age is essential. Schools and educational institutions should provide comprehensive arts programs that expose students to various forms of creativity, helping them develop skills, appreciation, and a lifelong love for the arts.
Accessible Funding and Grants: Governments, private organizations, and individuals can provide funding and grants specifically designed for artists and creatives. These financial resources can help them pursue their projects, research, and innovative ideas without being overly burdened by financial constraints.
Affordable Studio Spaces: Providing affordable studio spaces in urban and rural areas can give artists the physical environment they need to work, collaborate, and experiment. These spaces can foster a sense of community and innovation.
Public Art Initiatives: Encourage public art installations and projects that beautify public spaces, create a sense of identity, and engage the community. This not only supports artists but also enriches the daily lives of citizens.
Fair Compensation: Recognize the value of creative work by ensuring fair compensation for artists and creatives. This includes paying reasonable rates for commissions, performances, exhibitions, and other creative contributions.
Cultural Diversity and Inclusion: Celebrate cultural diversity and promote inclusivity in the arts. Embrace various perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences to enrich artistic expression and create a more representative creative ecosystem.
Collaboration and Networking Opportunities: Organize events, workshops, and platforms where artists can come together to collaborate, share ideas, and network. Building a strong sense of community can lead to cross-disciplinary innovation and mutual support.
Promotion and Exposure: Provide platforms and opportunities for artists to showcase their work, whether through galleries, exhibitions, online platforms, or public events. Increased visibility can lead to broader recognition and opportunities.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Self-Expression: One of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist or creative is the ability to express oneself. Art allows individuals to communicate their thoughts, emotions, and ideas in unique and powerful ways, often transcending language barriers.
Impact on Others: Many artists find fulfillment in the impact their work has on others. A piece of art can evoke strong emotions, spark conversations, and even inspire positive change in society.
Sense of Accomplishment: Creating something from scratch, whether it’s a painting, a sculpture, a piece of music, or a piece of writing, brings a sense of accomplishment. Completing a creative project can boost self-esteem and confidence.
Personal Growth: The creative process often involves pushing boundaries, taking risks, and exploring new territories. This continuous learning and growth contribute to personal development and a deeper understanding of oneself.
