Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Riley Clark. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Riley, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Our mission with “What Goes Bump In The Night” has always remained the same since the inception of the original podcast episode: to create a community that helps people talk about the paranormal. We want to provide a platform for people to share their incredible stories and for others to hear them. We have a passion for the paranormal, the unknown, the unexplainable, and the supernatural. We are eager to learn, see, and discover the answers to the unknown. Both of us have had many experiences in our lives, and we want to find the reasons for these paranormal and supernatural encounters.

Riley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Our names are Riley Clark and Trevor Jensen. We have been friends for almost a decade, starting with playing hockey together. We initially met at a hockey drop-in at the Georgetown ice area and had a great time playing together. A couple of years later, our paths crossed again as we found ourselves playing on the same College Hockey Team at Muskegon Community College. Throughout our time as teammates and classmates in college, we formed strong bonds and became even closer friends. Eventually, we ended up working at a car dealership together.
During our time at the car dealership, we began discussing the idea of starting a podcast about the paranormal. After some brainstorming, we came up with the name for our show, “What Goes Bump In The Night.” We then bought a simple USB Mic and started recording podcast episodes. Initially, we had friends on the show sharing their experiences of the paranormal and supernatural. Later on, we broadened our topics to include Dyatlov Pass, The Black Eyed Kids, Bigfoot, and various other paranormal phenomena. Over the last 5 years, we have produced numerous series for the podcast, including writing our own Creepy Pastas.
Eventually, we decided to take our interest in the paranormal a step further by embarking on a ghost hunt. We booked a paranormal investigation at the Old Licking County Jail in Ohio, and our lives changed forever as we became immersed in the excitement and fear of ghost hunting. We invested in more equipment and began filming our encounters for YouTube. Although our early videos were not the best quality, they inspired us to create a show that combined the podcast and a video vlog documentary for our subscribers, whom we call The Night Crew.
To date, we have conducted over 25 investigations, continuously striving to create better and better videos for our viewers. Our investigations have taken us to several of Michigan’s most haunted locations, such as the Mouth Cemetery, Hell’s Bridge, Van Buren County Poor House, Eloise Asylum, Honest To Goodness Tattoo Shop, as well as other locations across the country including Asher Walton House, Vulture Mine, Posttown Elementary, and Endenbugh Manor. Have we encountered any ghosts? We most definitely think so!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
We love connecting with guests through social media! The paranormal community has been incredibly welcoming and supportive. Our community is fantastic, and we can’t thank them enough for helping us grow the show over the past 5 years

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most fulfilling part of being a paranormal content creator is the opportunity the past 5 years, we have formed numerous new friendships, and we are deeply thankful for them. They have all contributed to our show evolving into the true manifestation of our aspirations.
