Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Riley Burns. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Riley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
JoJo’s Farmers Market is named after my mother, Joanna. She passed away when I was only eight years old, and it sent me on a mission of healing; not just for myself, but for those around me as well. I became a yoga teacher, amongst several other trades, and this would be the catalyst to what became the market. I wanted to bring all of the health and wellness ideals I believed in, into a community space for others to experience as well. JoJo’s is just that.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
JoJo’s offers a wide variety of products from freshly prepared food and local produce to homemade skin care and dog treats. Not only do we have items for purchase from 30-100 vendors any given weekend, we always offer FREE yoga and fitness classes and have many health and wellness vendors offering free demos (I.e. acupuncture, massage, stretch therapy, chiropractic adjustments etc).
How did you build your audience on social media?
Be candid and authentic! Show your story, show your audience, show your products. Have a variety of posts (I.e. videos, pictures, reels etc)
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Most of what I learned about farmers markets came from a podcast, Farmers Market Pros. The rest came from independent research. You don’t need a degree in a specific field to succeed!
