We recently connected with Rikki McCoy and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Rikki thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
The biggest risk I have taken is deciding to step out and become an entrepreneur. Working in my career as a licensed clinical social worker, I always wanted more not only for my career, but I wanted to feel like the work that I was doing was meaningful and making a difference in society. Deciding to start my private practice and provide mental health therapy services has been the best decision that I’ve ever made. I get to help people navigate their life journey. Their is no bigger reward and for that I am grateful.

Rikki, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a Holistic Therapist I provide mental health therapy services to adults in the Atlanta, GA area. I work with many people who are navigating all things life. Transitions, college, corporate America, relationships, breakups, marriage, becoming parents, and breaking dysfunctional patterns are some of the things that come up in therapy. I get to provide psycho-education on mental health and overall wellness. I love what I do. I help people navigate stress, create work life balance, and find peace during the ups and downs of life. It is the most rewarding work. As a Holistic Therapist, I not only provide talk therapy, I also provide holistic modalities to achieve overall health and wellness. Some of those modalities include breathwork, meditation, yoga, and sound healing. There are so many ways to heal our minds and our bodies. It’s all connected. We just have to be still long enough to make the connections.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Definitely my personality. I am a people person. My ability to provide a safe space for people to feel heard, seen, and validated has gotten me this far as a therapist. I am relatable. We talk about current events, and things going on in the world. I normalize being human. That it is okay to feel. I am transparent as well, so my clients knows that I have a life and I too have things that I am work on as a Therapist.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Being authentic in who I am as I brand and market myself and my business. People like to see that I am non-judgmental and relatable. I provide safety for people to open up about their deepest thoughts. Being authentic and dropping the veil so that clients know that they are dealing with a professional, but also a human being. Client will tell me often that they can pick up on my energy via social media and though my online profiles.
