Rikae, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea

Once I realized that the only thing stopping me was myself, I got out of my way. I have been teaching and mentoring for as long as I can remember. Last year 2022, I realized that I wanted to work for myself versus going in to clock in for work, so I filed for my LLC. I want to have the freedom to make my schedule, travel the world, and enjoy life! I don’t want my job to feel like a job, just something I enjoy doing without all the extra responsibilities. I believe that one day, I’ll be able to quit my 7-3 and focus on my businesses like I would love to do. Since, I’m a Teacher, I have the breaks throughout the year and the summer to focus more on my businesses. I’m still looking for ways to grow my businesses and attract more people, so I can get my name out there in the industry. I believe that the main thing is to be consistent, continue to invest in myself, and grow my following.

Rikae, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I was born a Teacher, so it’s just in me! Rewind years ago, I worked as a Teacher’s Aide for 5 years. When I moved, I eventually decided to pursue my Teacher’s Degree, which I had put on hold years ago. I graduated in December 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I currently teach Elementary and I have Rikae Gill Academy online courses. My Online Academy has my all-natural Weight Loss Course, Financial Literacy Course, and E-book available. In addition, I mentor family members and other people. I never really thought about it as a business, until my Mentor told me that I can make a living from my gifts if I eventually want to work for myself one day. People have always called me and wanted me to listen to their problems and ask in return my opinion because I’m an honest, straightforward, and trustworthy person. In addition, I enjoy helping others on my YouTube Channel listed under Rikae Gill. On my YouTube, I share my -100 lbs weight loss journey, exercises, weight loss hacks, word-of-the-day messages, cooking, etc. I’m also an Author that published my first short E-book in April 2023! The main thing I love is educating and helping other!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

When I was 18 years old, my Mother passed away. Me being the oldest of 3 kids I had to take on the responsibility of being a Mother to my brother and sister at a very young age. My plans was to graduate High School and move to Austin, Texas to go to college there, but God had other plans and I stayed home to take care of my siblings. This was a time in my life when I was young and couldn’t believe what was going on. I definitely had to pivot and was forced to live a life that I would have never imagined.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Building an audience is essential to online marketing, which attracts more people. I’m currently working on building my audience across the board. However, I have to be honest I put more time into my YouTube channel than my other social media platforms. My views on YouTube are currently about 70,000, and I believe that’s because I’m consistent with bringing new content. This summer, I’ll invest more time on my other Social Media Platforms and posting weekly. I think that it’s essential that we bring content that’s relevant to what’s going on in the world. Another way, find out what’s trending, and if it fits your brand jump on it. Also, find out who your audience are and what they want to see more of and deliver from there.
