We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Riggy Marz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Riggy below.
Riggy , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
My career began at a very early age i was 15 years old when I started writing my own songs, 18 when I started recording and performing music. So I def didn’t start late. I have no regrets but if I did, it would be to have believed in myself (gotten over imposter syndrome) 15 years ago. I would be further along in my career, but without those necessary mental and personal blocks I had to work through, I wouldn’t appreciate the journey or the hard earned results as much. Everything happens for a reason and on the universes time. If it was left up to my own devices , I would’ve messed things up or quit a long time ago.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Riggy Marz. I am the CEO/founder of Angeleno Records (a subsidiary label /Artist collective under The Orchard. Sony ATV team) and a songwriter/rapper/producer entrepreneur. I grew up in a very musical family, so I was destined for this career. It’s not easy, but I wouldn’t choose anything else. Angeleno Records offers digital distribution/Licensing and Publishing to artists. I have a large network of creatives I work with so between us all, we really cover EVERYTHING music related. I believe in being 100% independent because art is my baby and I would never be happy having somebody else dictate what I should /shouldn’t do with my career. I rap about my life, no facade here…

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
If you like an artist, support them. Like, comment and share on their posts. Subscribe and follow all their social media , buy their merch.. most will pay an absurd amount of money to get seats at a Drake show (all respect to drake) but won’t even pay $10 for admission to watch their friends perform. It’s like , unless your famous, these sheep don’t look at what we do as “a job”….but it’s more than that, it’s a way of life.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Addiction almost killed me. It almost locked me up for life, and it destroyed not just me but everybody close to me. Music has always been there for me. Music is LOVE, LOVE is much more powerful than the demons that try to destroy us.
