We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ridge Hardy . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ridge below.
Ridge, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
I always say the idea is 5%. The execution is 95%. As human beings we have ideas all day everyday but so little of us actually act upon those ideas. When I thought about Red Balloon (my business) the idea truly came from a higher power. Had to. When God or the universe speaks to you you should definitely listen. So with that being said as soon as the idea hit me I began executing immediately. Red Balloon is a platform for independent artist to create content. We produce live shows, podcasts, small music visuals, live music performances etc. We are dedicated to the independent creative. First thing I did with Red Balloon is created my own live show. I wanted to control how a small show should feel. So I contacted a host who is now the chairman for Red Balloon (Jerm) and together we contacted as many artists as we could find. The show was December 19th, 2020. I thought about the idea that November and we literally executed on the idea within a month. Got flyers made, did small promo videos, found a venue and made this vision happen.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Ridge Hardy, since a child I have always been deeply connected to my imagination. I would play with toys for hours or go outside and get lost in my own world. Creating has always been second nature for me. I started making music after highschool and I became very interested in the thought process of creating projects & videos. As a child I would also watch music videos and wonder how did these people think of this (i.e.) eminem, missy elliot, ludacris, busta rhymes and so much more. I’ve always love to direct my own imagination. So I directed my own music videos which then led to me to directing /creating this world for independent creatives. I an truly proud of the platform that I am creating for myself & others. This is a cohesive project for the community and I. The main thing I would want anyone to take away from this story is to truly find what you love and dive head first into it. Don’t question the higher power that speaks to you. Believe it.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Be the content. Don’t overthink content. Show as much as you can when it comes to what you do. Share your process the good and the bad. People love to be apart of someone else’s journey from a distance and they also love to support if they see that you are committed.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think truly staying committed to the process. I do my best to do what I say and say what I mean to my community. I fail and I succeed but what I think people love most about me is that I continue to show up. That’s how you build something. The bad is just as good as the good but you have to accept that as the leader.
